01-15 ARMED FORCES DAY: Nigeria Celebrates her heroes.

in #nigeria7 years ago

Hi there,

When I was a kid I'd dreamt of becoming a service man, a fighter, an hero.
Guess I must have seen too many ninja or war movies that year, but I could still recall my pre-college days where I'd hope to get in the NDA. These days, such childish thirst are no more! Although every ones in a while I still fantasize about becoming a crew member of the famous Nathan James Destroyer from the TV series "The Last Ship" (lol).

Back to reality

Today was a memorable day in the history of the nation (Nigeria) as we remembered our heroes, man of flesh and blood who willingly put their lives on the line to ensure a safer country, men at the forefront of the battle against terrorism, criminality, senseless killings, and all forms of barbaric acts..

Today was the ARMED FORCES DAY.

these forces have a their histories which might be controversial to many. The truth is "These were the hands that moulded Nigeria" (no further speech)

Being a Nigerian

I'm quite abreast with the security trends, whether it be the Herdsmen saga in the Belts or tales of the infamous boko-haram in the far Northeast or the cultist/militants here in the South, etc. Anyone would agree with me that without the efforts of these gallant men, we'd be hiding and hoping to make it though to the next day by now.
So I'd like to dedicate this post to every service man (including the fallen heroes) out there fighting for our safety and freedoms.
Yes, these men deserve recognition and honour. Even though they're not perfect (no one is) being men with such bravery is rear especially when there has been issues of being poorly equipped in the past.
A speech by former president Atiku Abubakar reads

“We must never take for granted the great sacrifice that these brave men and women have made or are making. We must never forget them or their loved ones. On this Armed Forces Remembrance Day, I call on Nigerians all over the world to show respect and love to our security personnel by showing respect and love to one another......

So if you are a realist and you catch my drift, pls show by comments and if possible you can share your story on how these men of valour all over the world have through their actions preserved the sanctity of humanity

I remain @tekadii, saluting the Nigerian Service Men.
