Bots
This is a subject that I avoid at least I try to at all cost . I always seem to step into a problem that could have been avoided . It is no secret that I avoid the bots , with exceptions . I do use @steembasicincome , @dustsweeper , Ginabot for example but never have I used a resteem service or upvoteservice . I also use the tag #nobidbots on occasion .
Its my choice and yours if you choose to do so or not . How you manage your account is up to you and really none of my business . This is my opinion and you can choose to accept it , learn from it or just disregard it as such . It is however a topic that should be discussed . There are to many unanswered question about it out there for many of us .
Here are some of the things that I know for sure .
Resteem Services
There are so many out there . They all can't be worth the amount that you pay to be beneficial to you for their service . Just because they advertise that they will resteem your account to 1000 accounts doesn't mean that the accounts are beneficial . Just look at your following list . How many are real accounts and actually reply to your posts . So why should that be different to a resteemservice . Most people I know either mute or remove followers that resteem to much to keep their feed as clean as possible . I bet most of you do the same .
There are Resteem Services that provide a very good quality service as promised . It's just like any other business . You have the top of the line high quality providers then there are the low run of the mill discounted providers . The Rolls Royce all the way down to the Pinto . Which ones are which , I can't tell you . It is and area that has to be researched by the buyer . "Buyer-Beware" :)
Upvoteservice
Now this one here sounds great ! Who out there does not want to have their post or comment upvoted . Not a single person . We don't need to do a survey on it it is simply a fact . Do they work ? A very large percent , very large, of the Trending page is due to upvote bots and people trying to catch a whale . There are some who hit the Trending page without any bots but far and inbetween . I do know a couple who do it and did it . Congrats to them . I do not look at the Trending page . Not at all . Again here we have the same situation with very good ones and mediocre ones . Same as above applies but the Upvote bots might have a slight edge over the Resteem bots . "Opinion"
Conclusion
BUYER BEWARE . Just like anything else do your research . Then do more research . You will either come out ahead , break even or loss your money . The services are not free and are there to make money . Just like in any advertisement if is cost effective to send out 0.001 SBD into your wallet to entice you into their service . Steemit version of an infomercial . I will hold out until I can get buy one get on free, just pay separate shipping and handling . LOL
I have no plans using any Bot to increase my visibility or boost my upvote . My votes go to Planktons and minnows most of whom have very little voting power . To say that I am happy with that is an understatement . More like Proud to be a small part of a community builder .
Recommendation, Agree , Disagree any and all input would be grateful
so all these accounts that start to follow you immediately after you posted something new, they are just fake accounts to resteem posts. If you visit these accounts they follow more than 150000 accounts
some are , others crap and some are worth keeping and following . I just clicked on 4 of your followers and 3 were not worth it . I did not look at who you follow .
My point is one needs to be selective and the following list does not reflect your true followers or anyone else's . You can buy followers but are they true followers ?
If you have a following of more than 150000 accounts why are you bothering me . no matter what you post you should be at the top of the trending page and your not so, what's wrong with that picture
Yeah, lately it has been getting horrible. I will get batches of 5-8 of these bot accounts following me at the same time.
Yea they seem to all jocking for the customers . must be getting harder to turn a profit unless you have a solid customer base .

It's true that resteem bots usually don't give good returns in the form of sbd, but I've used one, @promotedpost, that has given me a good number of votes and helped a couple of my posts go to the trending page, giving me more organic followers and visibility. I haven't really tried upvote bots, I've been unsure of whether they're really worth it, but I will probably test them out when I have some more sdb's
That's an achievement on getting on the trending page . WTG ! But that also proves that content has little to do with getting there . Whats that say about the trending page ? interesting
Thanks haha. I agree with you, on that article I had an upvote from @curie (this is the one I'm talking about, btw) and that helped to get me on the trending page, but after that the resteem bot helped me get even higher. I think that their best use is when the article already has a decent number of upvotes and visibility, more likely to be read by followers of bots that way.
LOL after i made the comment I went and looked at your blog and saw the curie vote on it plus a couple of others . It's a shame that that's what it took to get that post to trending (high quality) It is hard to get quality post noticed and exposure does help .
I remember sending 3 SBD for a bidbot service and tended up getting less than a one dollar upvote.
On another occasion, i sent in 1 SBD and received no upvote at all; i felt like crying
yep would have been better off powering up SP
That's right
Most of them are crap and I've been shunning them - until now.
@enforcer48 told me about a couple bots which he tested and found to be useful - especially for those of us who still have significant trouble in operating funds...
He introduced me to @thundercurator who for a 0.121 SBD investment, pays out 0.36 - when I did the math (even after deducting for curation, etc) it showed a very good return on investment (ROI for the more savvy among us.) This one runs about 3 days behind, so remember that when asking for an upvote from him. (Although he did refund me when he couldn't get to one of mine in time.) One thing I really like is that for the 0.121 invest (instead of 0.120), it's a silent upvote, no commenting.
Also, there is @treeplanter who actually do some good for the world at the same time! You pay in what you can up to 0.25 SBD. When I pay in the maximum, I get a 0.53 upvote. Again, once doing the math, it was a good ROI, so worth doing. They also put out a daily bulletin featuring the top contributors as well as where you were for the day. This bot does comment on your posts, but it's for a good cause, so I don't mind so much.
Then there is @zenbot run by @kaliju which has proven to be a very nice bot too. For my 0.5 SBD (minimum), I get an upvote worth 1.08 or so. Again, very much worth my time and effort - and makes my post look so much better! If he notices his upvote has eroded too much, he'll make things right with a 100% upvote (1.53 or so at the moment) to make up for it.
I'm also playing with @bumper right now - who were top rated in several articles I read. That one has a 1-2 day lag at the moment and I haven't had the time/funds to test it completely. Within the next few days, my cash flow should be a bit healthier and I'll test them a bit more thoroughly.
I did try two of the cheaper resteem services recommended in one post and neither of them did anything worth paying out for, so I definitely would not recommend these.
There are a few articles out there from 2018 even, which talk about some of the different bots that are worth trying. It does seem clear that with a little research, you can do a bit more for yourself than even @dustsweeper proposes.
(I do love SBI shares though.)
Checking out what whales use repeatedly is probably a good marker. They can afford to lose out from time to time, but many of them consistently go back to the same bots.
just a few thoughts.
I'll probably do a post in a few weeks.
@thundercurator I like this one but its not a bot . he is a manual curator and I agree with your assessment and support what he is doing
@zenbot run by @kaliju I also support same as above with manual if it has not changed
I have not heard anything negative about any of the two above. customer service oreinted
very informative comment . I look forward to your post . if its anything like this comment it will have to go into the library :)
Shouldn't throw the word "bot" around so much then. I got sloppy. :-)
Now that I'm playing with this area a little, I understand the purpose and how everyone can help each other...
I give him extra SP to vote with - and he uses it to vote for me - win-win (so few things in life that do that!) We all support one another.
As I get a little more cash flow to play with, I hope to find one or two more to visit daily - I think @bumper is going to end up as one of those... maybe by next week I'll be able to expand to include that one more regularly.
I even looked up formulae for analyzing returns better and worked everything out.
I would not say "sloppy" I think it still falls in the realm of bots :) I just wanted to point it out for other viewers and make the distinction .
Your way ahead of me
hehehe
I was driving myself crazy trying to work out whether it was actually worth it or not! So, I finally decided to put my mind to rest.
That's good . I spend so much time here that research takes second place .
I believe a very few upvote bots are really helpful. But I never found a good resteem one. Most of them are either spams or useless. Thank you for sharing @wolfhart.
Thanks for sharing that info , what I kinda figured from what I have heard . lets see if there are other with similar or different experiences
Did you make the cardboard robos?it is cute eee
No I got the picture from Pixabay I thought they went well with the theme
Clean post and important to discuss with with new people.
This is getting to be a much bigger issue I posted today and within 5 mins had 20 new bot followers its lame as hell.
I wish there was a way to clean it out . It is becoming less of a tool to use . I use Gina more and more complimenting it with steemworld
Definitely agree with the resteem services. In general they are a waste of time as you are resteeming to very disinterested accounts.
However, bid bots or vote buying I find useful for visibility and also as a roundabout way of reinvesting back to SP.
have not look at that . interesting !
good information, I have ever been deceived from the bots that are not responsible and after we provide according to the rules even when in the upvote not like agreement
Bots do not guarantee a result as far as I know . They do use attractive language in order to solicit buyers .
Buyer beware as in all things
thanks you very much @wolfhart about your information
Amazing, thanks a lot for sharing. You've been of great help to newbies
Been following some accounts here hoping to get reesteemed or upvotes but a lot of them are either fake or scams
You're saying you're not watching the trending page (out of ethical reasons?)... because I've read something similar to this, but can't recall it...
And another thing: there seems to be so much information about bots and "fake" accounts.. god, it feels like a big load of education ahead of me... just scrolling through the comments here and I'm already learning.
Apart from that, I'm proud to give you my 0.01$ plankton vote - wish it would be more - who knows... one day... at least I'm not a robot ;)
I don't go on the trending page because , It's not so much out of an ethical reason as one of expectation . The learning curve is very high . I have just begun to understand a small portion of if . I know that you have to be real and authentic , true to yourself . Like anything else worth wild it takes time and commitment
Expectation of low value or "trashy" posts? (Sorry, if I'm acting like a fool here, I'm just super interested)
No . More so on the payout . The contents very wildly . Most people struggle with payouts of one or two dollars if that high . the payout on the trending page is what 100 plus dollars . It's unrealistic for the average person to achieve it . There are so many things to include Bot's that are in play to achieve such earnings . The minnows who jump on the bandwagon expecting a piece of the pie of the payout is a farce . They have no idea how the calculation of voting / payout is done or they would have never wasted their time or got their feeling hurt with an unrealistic expectation
thanks for explaining! it's so true and tempting to be blinded by the top earning posts, whereas almost everyone else (even the ones who create consistently amazing posts) have a hard time earning. Maybe that's how Steemit helps newbies to find their enthusiasm and share the message...(?)
@sams-world Find your enthusiasm in the foundation that you build and the people you engage with.
oh yes, cheers man! that felt actually very good to read!
speak soon,
Sam
There hasn't been as much talk about resteem services lately, or at least not as much as the bidbots, so kudos for including them in your post.
I've never used either one, so I can't say from personal experience. The buyer beware is probably the safest way to put it, but from what I've read from those who have used or at least experimented with the bidbots, it sounds like they had mixed results at best.
Since whales don't look at the trending page other than in disgust, or to find a flag target, it's the newbies who are looking at it. And it's some other large SP buying their way up there in hope of what? Dust votes? It's all very peculiar to me.
I've wondered about the caliber of the resteem services, just because you can't hand pick your followers. If you could, then at least 90%, if not higher of mine would ever make it because they're scammers, bots or alt accounts. The remaining 10% are in varying degrees of following, with probably half of that being truly engaged with me or anyone else on the platform.
I think resteemig bots actually do work quite well. i've tried about 20 bots (ive spent maybe 10 sbd) on my latest posts and i received comments from around 30 new people. that's a lot
If it works that's great . But I think you are better equipped than most here to understand the workings
Okay, so 20 bots for 10 SBD for 30 new people over how many posts? And was that 30 each post or all together?
I've been using small bots like @hugewhale
"Send 0.700 SBD or 1 STEEM To hugewhale URL as Memo , Resteem to 10.500+ Followers , Min 30+ Account Upvotes , Hugewhale upvote."
so I've spent around 10 sbd and received over 30 comments in one promoted post from people I never knew before. within one post.
I wish there was a way to clean the following list . I don't pay much attention to it for a reliable indicator .
Yes thats what I get also mixed feelings . For now I will stay away :)
Thx for another informative post. Easy to read.
Please continue up with creating interesting content - it may be hard at the beginning to build reach and solid followers base.
Steemits needs solid content builders so just dont ever give up! :)

Already followed and upvoted :) Cheers,
thanks for the compliment
I heard good and bad and everything in between . I think expectation has a lot to do with it .
exacly
