Already with the adverts

in #noob6 years ago

I'm new here, and I told people on another social network that I had registered.
Someone mentioned they didn't think blockchain social-media could get anywhere without a robust advertising platform that also avoids concentrations of power in the hands of big media outfits, etc.

So I got an idea.
With the upvote->money model that steem presently has, creatives and other content-providers already get a degree of autonomy. The people who'd be most interesting to advertisers would also be the people least in need of advertising dollars.
I'd imagine a complete, second steemit network. One only for advertising. Built like the steemit I've seen so far, but hosting only advertising.
And anyone posting anything here would get to check a box. "Yeah, let them advertise here.", and maybe chose what adverts they'd be fine with on their blog.
The advertisers would then pay, either based on upvotes for the post their advert appears on. Or the adverts get their own little button, for users to show some love. Though that'd add a second level which might be more than most people are willing to handle.

It's kinda depressing though. First day I'm here, I'm already thinking about financial sustainability and how to monetize this ... I should probably shut up now.
