Central Coast Wanderings

Occasionally this NorCal warrior has to go see other parts of our great State. I mean as far as land mass goes, we're basically a country (at least in Europe). So over the bridge and south we headed to the Central Coast area.

After quite a long ride through SF and SanJose Friday evening traffic, we finally arrived in San Luis Obispo to our hotel. First of all, SLO is a great town. People are cool, places are clean and the mission for which the town is named is a prominent part of downtown. Did some shopping, had a few drinks and found Bubblegum Alley. Somehow it got started that people would stick their CHEWED bubblegum to the walls in one particular alley. I was equal parts disgusted and intrigued. Look that up if you want to see pics. I've chosen to share a pic of the beautiful flowers I encountered instead.

The next morning and the next day was all about Pismo Beach. Full disclosure, it is one of my favorite spots and I stop by there any chance I can. On this day, on top of enjoying the surf, sun and sand, we were present for a memorial of life for a man named Eddie. He was born in Waikaloa, HI and moved to Pismo when he was young. Eddie was a surfer and was killed in a car accident the week previous. His paddle out was moving and I feel honored to have been there for it. Never met ya bro, but RIP. His wreath came in on the tide a while later.

On Sunday we headed home but decided to go out to Morro Rock first. Beautiful little seaside town with a stunning beach and THE rock.

Headed home after feeling a little bummed to be honest. I just wanted to stay so bad. That is until I walked in the door and was greeted by this:

The Central Coast is certainly a lovely place! I went to visit a mate up there recently:
