Have you ever seen an aurora borealis? It is one of the most impressive natural spectacles on our planet. Today we take you north to a city in Norway whose location is one of the best in the world to admire this phenomenon.
The city of Tromso (Tromsø) is the capital of Troms and Nord-Norge, the northernmost region of the country. In addition to being an important center of commerce, it is also cosmopolitan and cultural. This municipality consists of a continental part and a group of islands, of which many are uninhabited. Around it, the northern lights are reflected in the peaks of its snowy mountains, as well as in the waters of the channel in which it is. The landscape of Tromso under the light of the aurora borealis is a sublime and magical spectacle that you will not forget in life.
The city is located in the north of the Polar Circle, and in this territory produces another unique phenomenon: the midnight sun. The tilt of the Earth's axis causes the north pole to face the sun during the summer months, which translates into 24 hours a day of daylight. In the same way, in the winter months the inverse effect occurs: the polar night. Although there are times of day when the sky clears a little, the sun never comes out ... It is a perpetual night.
It is precisely during the winter months when the aurora borealis occurs in Tromso. The best time of the year to enjoy them is between the month of January and the end of March, between 7 and 10 at night. The summer months, when the midnight sun sets, is impossible to see. In any case, the city is an ideal place to observe this phenomenon, which occurs much more frequently than in other areas of Norway, and the surrounding natural environment is ideal for disconnecting and enjoying.
