Everyone who wants to catch a glimpse of North Korea should consider taking a trip to Dandong, China. While the city itself offers not many tourist attractions, there is one characteristic feature of Dandong: It is the largest Chinese border city, facing the North Korean city Sinuiju across the Yalu River. Tourists can rent speed boats or passenger boats to approach the border and get a closer look at the North Korean side of the Yalu River.
This street scene gives a quite bad impression of Dandong.
Most of all it's one picture I would like to share with you.
It nails down the contrast between these two countries and shows a shiny tourist boat in front of North Korea.
From time to time we could see red trucks crossing over the so called Sino Korean Friendship Bridge.
When we took the boat some guys from the other side were throwing stones after us. They probably felt quite annoyed from the steady flow of tourist boats.
It's my first post in here and I hope you like it. If you want to read more I'll extend my writing in here. Meanwhile you can find more pictures from that trip on my blog.
