I do the same sometimes - it is great to change the style from time to time - I do myself mostly landscape photography, I am going out to catch some views, but sometimes it is nothing special going on around, so I start to look around, I start to look for a details - I am changing my lens and shooting macro - this always give some nice results, during shooting I am starting to have 'Visions' - ideas about how the picture can look like after framing, after playing with colors, after post processing techniques. And this works well for me - sometimes I have moods for changing the reality, sometimes I love to keep the view with natural light and colors. Colors are great - saturated but not disturbing.
