200,000 or 5% of all Norwegians own Cryptocurrencies.

in #norway7 years ago

Norstat recently did it's first statistical analysis of how many norwegians owns cryptocurrencies. The number 200,000, or 5% of all norwegians sound surprisingly high. But if we look at gender and age, things start to make more sense.

Most young males

9% of men owns cryptocurrencies, while only 2% of females. 18-29 year olds: 12%. 30-39: 8% 40-49: 3% and 50+ only 2%

16% say that they have used cryptos for other things than just hodling. In comparison 365.000 norwegians owns stocks.

1010 people were asked.

Do I believe this?

I dunno. It sounds awfully high. A year ago NO ONE talked about cryptos. Sure..a lot of young people certainly have jumped into cryptos in 2017..but 200,000?

No, what it really shows, and which we all know is a fact - is that the older you get the less adventurous you become, the more negative you get and less willing to take risk. You're often also more prejudice and less likely to listen to logic and reason

Considering there are two? Bitcoin ATM's, no resturants accepting it (except the one where the Bitcoin ATM is) not shops accepting it, no experts, no websites...almost no infrastructure around cryptos..and THAT many people owns it?

I have no reason to question the legitimacy of the research, other than my gut feeling. Of people I've talked to no one has even considered buying cryptos.

But if it's accurate, I guess it's good. And it also means that ALOT of young people jumped on the wagon mid or late 2017 - buying almost on top. A lot of these young people are extremely inexperienced and could be (like I've argued before) one of the reasons why the market is so volatile.

I think 5% is waaay too high!
Fluid intelligence is at its highest around 30, but crystallised intelligence can stay stable until about 65.
About IQ and human history. I am uncertain if IQ has increased so much that people believe. Have you read a book called the Red Queen? The point is we are all Sisophysians believing we are evolving, while we basically have to change just to keep up with evolution. For example: Is Norwegian culture better now than in the Viking age? Were the Vikings stupid? I have not doubt where I would have lived if I had a time machine, even though it would certainly have been more dangerous (and fun) back then.

Are these two types of intelligence distinguishable from each other, or are they just called different things to explain two different utilities/areas of functionality of IQ?

I have not read the red queen. Going to check it out! (I just ordered Jordan Petersons new book btw..12 rules)

Aren't we actually getting a little bit stupider the past 10-20 years? Or is that just popular science?

I don't think norwegian culture is "better" now..certainly different. I suppose there were things we didn't have any prerequisite of knowing back then. I think people were just as intelligent, but they KNEW less (less crystalized IQ?)

According to my understanding fluid intelligence is the capacity to solve new problem without prior knowledge, whereas crystallised intelligence is the ability to use skills, knowledge and experience. I suppose both types should be strongly correlated. But, I just recently became aware of the two types of intelligence, while reading about big 5 personality traits. Strange... I actually just got JP 12 rules myself, gonna start reading it soon.

Dang.. that's interesting. Thanks for posting this. Upvoted and resteemed!

Now you can say most of the norwegians are crypto expert.@upvoted

You don't believe that how much you are useful for us because you are giving us an important cryptocurrency news almost every day. I love the way you are sharing your knowledge with us.

Keep sharing such news with us. :)

I was almost happy reading that, until I saw that you are just a spammer.Everyone can see that you just spam. You'll never have a future on this platform if you just piss people off.

That is impressive if true. More advanced societies will likely see higher crypto participation.

"This shows that IQ goes up with age".

Let's accept it, it's a good joke, haha, but it's totally wrong, we can not ask the older people to take more part in the technological revolutions, I can bet that if you calculate how many people use phones, computers or any type of device electronic you will have similar results.

If 200,000 people have joined only in Norway, I do not want to imagine myself in the rest of the world. In the United States, 0.1% of the population already represents 300,000 new people. There are also people from the Third World countries, who do not move much capital, but who are huge masses of people, the best thing that can happen to the crypto market now, rather than increase in price, is to put more people in it, because it guarantees its existence.

5% is huge. If true, good game Norway. We are only at the beginning of the journey.

What? Damm 5% sounds incredibly high, I don’t know if that could be possible at such an early stage in the game.

Either way, that level of popularity will arrive sooner or later, slowly but surely crypto will be in every part of our life.

About the comment of that stupid person, I would like to see his face 2-3 years from now, even thought I have no idea who that person is hahah

Sånn er det i Norge. Thats the way in Norway
