RE: Dear Skimmers, I Know What You’re Thinking: “Dang, Dan! You Really Made Me Work My Arse Off On This One.”

Well, the way you wrote and described it made it sound good. Even the picture looks yum! Man, really though, I’ve never been able to stomach tofu. Tiny bits, larger chunks, in salads, in stews or chilis, I can’t hang with it. My mouth really disagrees with the texture of tofu. Reminds me of something like mushy, flavorless peas with a hard apple skin coating or something.

And it’s actually high in protein which is something I’m always looking for and need—it sucks! I’ll even eat not so appetizing, bird seed type, unsweetened chocolate bar things just for the protein—tofu would be so much easier. Got any suggestions?

What about my description, how’d I do? Really, though, if you have any suggestions, I’m all ears eyes.

It took me a while to jump on the tofu bandwagon, but now I'm totally there. I still think tempeh is my favorite, though, so perhaps that is more your speed? It has a lot more texture to it, so I know some people like that more. My dad (not a vegan) really likes tempeh, especially in chili. Have you tried tofu scramble yet? I feel like when you mash it up and mix it in with a crap-ton of veggies you can't even tell you're eating it. Especially if you pop it in a wrap.

I'll have to come up with some more ideas for you, but I think @thekitchenfairy is pretty bomb at making tofu (and she's a fellow tempeh lover, too) in all her awesome dishes. I think @lenasveganliving had a tofu recipe I wanted to try at one point, too, but by golly my stomach just isn't big enough for all the yummy stuff I want to try from my favorite steem bloggers!
