I was reading a Ray Bradbury story last night to my son because we couldn't find the Harry Potter book I had been reading. Bradbury is always around the top of my list for favorite authors. He had an amazing combine of the craft of writing while he developed a unique vision of the world. I would be happy to live in the world that he imagined. It had its dark places but was rarely hassled by real hate. He believed in the ability of each of us to reach beyond the moon and in that facet, wrote about it in such a matter of fact way that it must be true.
It's my first day back in the classroom after a week out with winter weather. I'm trying to find the motivation to do more than the minimum but it's a little difficult. I'll fight through this cycle of apathy but it sucks in the process.
It ended up being an evening with a touch of the weird in it. I often gauge that feeling when at the grocery store. The store I go to is a complete cross-section of society with a heavy dose of odd heads, dope fiends, and wayward preachers. It has the things I need to make tasty meals for my family and is near both home and work. Some days, usually when the weather is off in that way where the concrete sweats moisture, our base needs and desires consume reason.
I made it this far. It's a step in rebuilding a self.
