Nottingham was treated to a weekend of lights at various locations around the city, with the best feature being in the market square.

Ok so the first image isn't mine (the rest are) but none of my photos do the sight of huge lasers hitting the town hall any justice, although the video isn't so bad.
This is the first year that the festival, with crazy illuminated folk parading the streets, that the event was held over two nights and Nottingham's free February festival was themed around 'Life on Earth'.
Having lived here for almost 20 years, on and off, my eyes had grown bored of the rather majestic town hall. Not today though!
The colourful event came at just the right time before today's snow and the closure of one of the 3 bridges into town which has caused chaos today, and made my 2 x 6 km commute last 3 hours. Ouch!

Yeah, what a canvas! As usual, my photos don't really do the even justice.
The commute was awful and the first time since I got 'home' that my coat wasn't doing it and I felt cold.
I imagine that was quite a display to watch, the kaleidoscope video was pretty cool. Snow??? We finally left the minus teens Fahrenheit this weekend and got up to 40 degrees, yeah it won't be long lived, but it was a nice weekend temperature wise for us.
Yeah it was pretty cool, I didn't mind the cold.
A snow day today, and with that and the bridge being out of order, I'll be working at home tomorrow. Glad the weather has picked up for you, even if only temporarily.
Nice to have a job that can be telecommuted to on bad days. Yes the short reprieve in the temperatures is nice, I hope we are done with the minus teens, January was just to dang cold.
It is, I'd like to do a day or two a week - even when the conditions are good :)
Jan wasn't bad here, this next month will make up for it i'm sure.

I was thinking about it but we'd just had snow which was a cross between slush and Ice when it was time to go home :/
yea the slushy ice stuff is horrible, wet, slippy and cold. you were as well off still there for hours :-)

About the same amount of time, unless the paths were slippy and slushy all the way. Then it would have been really crap :)

Lights are spectacular. Especially enjoyed the vid. You kept your hand still, which may not be easy when it is cold outside.
I could have walked almost! Sat in traffic has it's perks, at least is it is warm.
