AS REGARDS APPENDICITIS
Appendicectomy is the surgical removal of the appendix, it's a common procedure in hospitals, the pictures on display are a few of the I took while my sister went in for it last year
You now know how the inflamed appendix looks like, so when next you or someone you know goes for appendectomy, ask to be shown the appendix.
However, today, I want to discuss something I learnt from experience, we may not find it in the text books, nor in the lecture halls. My brother happens to be a medical doctor, and I learned so much from him.
Over the years, I have discovered, appendicitis
could be a symptom or a diagnosis, let's not forget the appendix is part of the lymphoid (immune) system, hence a disease affecting an abdominal organ most especially the liver, intestines itself, kidneys, etc, may also cause the appendix to be inflamed.
Consequently, before you go for appendectomy, make sure you rule out other pathologies in other intra abdominal organs, these can be done by doing a Liver function test, Serum, electrolytes, urea, and creatinine, , Full blood counts, an abdominal ultrasound scan, etc, in addition to your routine tests.
I have heard so many stories of patients dying shortly after a successful appendectomy.
My brother in his words”I have had cause to suspend planned appendectomies following results from the investigations, treated the patients conservatively, and with life style modifications, they turned out perfectly, I would have regretted if I had gone ahead with the appendectomies”
So please guys this few words can really go along way to help people around you, so pls share...
Good advice, people should do regular checkup
