During the old days when I was working 16 hours at night starting from 5pm to 8am I noticed I have a talent to balance coins. This is what I do to stay a wake for 16 hours of hospital duty. Each time after I give meds and change the IV fluids of my patients I balance coins to prevent myself to fall asleep.
The life of a nurse is not easy mostly when you are working in the third world country, most of the time you are overworked and underpaid plus the hospital is understaff.
I worked as a ward nurse and in the same time I am also working in the emergency room if we got emergency cases. Because we are only two I am the one assigned in the emergency room and on the half of patients in the ward then my partner is the one assigned in the delivery room and the other half of the patients.
Do you know how much is my salary per month? Only $150 a month without overtime pay. This is the amount of money I am dying for to have every end of the month.
I worked in the hospital for 1 year and 1 month. I'm always exhausted after the 16 hours of duty and when I got home in the morning all I do is to sleep until lunch time.
This is the life of the nurse in a third world country, you need to be skillful to do not just one job, we always multi-task.

Hi, it's sad that people like you are underpaid, you deserve way more. Don't give up on what you do and keep being strong, one day it will pay off.
