I fully enjoyed being at the Color Factory in New York City this past Monday. I will highlight some of my favorite experiences from the factory. My wife, first born child, and I walked down to the Color Factory from our parking. As soon as you walk into the building you are warmly greeted and you can check in for your reservation. They have a complimentary coat check and a little ice cream treat. An employee leads a small group of us guests into the first room for a video to inform the participants what to expect and what to do while in each room in the factory.
The first room after the introduction was the sign up room. There were I pads to enter our names and email in order to receive the photos one can take throughout the factory. A guest needs to sign up and take a card with a QR code on it. There are strategic cameras in each room for the best pictures. The room with the Ipads also had a little treat in there for the people to enjoy, but like the video says, ‘one treat per person’ . . . oh shucks.
Next we are lead down a very colorful hallway where we choose a button pin from the wall. Now, I was not too happy about this, because my wife and child went in one room and I went to another, but it made sense as I sat in the next room. We had to separate, because we had to draw a picture of the other person. It was a pleasant experience despite my first apprehensiveness in the beginning. Also it is very important if you are bringing little children to the factory be sure that they don’t press the button on the desk. It will restart the program from the beginning, our little one did just that, and the room was quite crowded as we left.
The next room, where we entered, which had these balloons that would not pop, and on each were major problems of the day; for example, one balloon had written, fighting global warming. Now, this room with the balloons was inspired by a classroom of students where they compared these non-popping balloons to dreams. You can never destroy a dream similar to you can pop the balloon in the room. It is very important for these days we live in. The balloons were also moving around the room by large fans in the wall.
One of the rooms had a flowchart which I thought was very cool, because I am such a math geek. In the room, I was so involved with where I was in the flowchart that I totally forgot about my wife and child. Luckily, I was able to go back into the previous room, which was against the rules, and we got to take a great family portrait.
Finally, the last room was my favorite and everyone’s favorite, the blue room. In this room was a huge rubber ball pit. We got to take amazing pictures together and we had a fun time wading through the balls. I was thinking about Sheldon from the sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, where he was saying bazinga! We had another treat to eat and a souvenir for a keepsake. All in all it was an amazing time, and if you are in New York City or San Francisco, please go down to the Color Factory, you will have a fantastic time.
