For some reason we are often able to recognize when someone else is infatuated. We tend to identify our own infatuation as "being in love" or "falling in love."
"Infatuation is falling in love with or becoming extremely interested in someone or something for a short time."
In that sense, we do have a word for what you describe:
"Yes, a wonderful thing that makes you forget about on which planet you are ... but your love comes like a summer rain and goes back so fast.Absolutely analogous to drugs ... with time, the effect is weakened because the body is accustomed to high levels of dopamine and neurons become less sensitive."
The problem is, we are generally incapable of admitting to ourselves that we are under its spell.
