Oscript editor improvements
A number of useful improvements have been made to the Oscript editor following the recent release of Autonomous Agents on testnet.
You can now save your work, edit several agents at the same time and easily switch between them. If you edit any predefined AA template, your personal copy is automatically created and saved.
Syntax highlighting with tooltips and help have been added. Just hover your mouse over the function inside the editor to see useful guidance on what functions do.
More templates have been added making it easier to start from an already working example. For example, there is now an ICO template with milestone-based release of the raised funds. This means investors in ICOs can ensure recipients of funds only receive money when goals have been met.
See this post for more details of the improvements and inspiration for those that build with Oscript.
The first deadline for entries to the Autonomous Agents developer contest was reached yesterday, so the second two-week slot for entries has started.
Autonomous Agents testnet branch
The bot-example repository has an AA branch, which can be used to develop Autonomous Agents. This means that if you check out the branch you don't need to switch to testnet mode with the .env file or change the ocore and headless-obyte branches in package.json as these two changes have been made already in the branch.
Mainstream media press coverage
We had some great press coverage recently in mainstream print media. The Telegraph, one of the most popular UK newspapers, published a story on how the PolloPollo app is using Obyte smart contracts to deliver food and medicine to struggling Venezuelans. The same story was also picked up by City AM (opens PDF) in London.
Maybe the mainstream media is getting tired of printing the same old price/energy use of Bitcoin stories (incidentally, Obyte energy use is close to zero as we don't have miners).
World Map improvements
All online hubs and relays are now displayed on the Obyte world map. At the time of writing there were 115 full wallets, 4 hubs and 2 relays online.
Obyte Brand Guide
Version 1.0 of the Obyte brand guide was released (opens PDF). This will be further developed in the future. For reference it is located in the Media Kit.
IoT progress
The IoTVerse project updated two aspects of what will be done in stage 2:
- Micropython will be used to ease integration of the Python library UTIM; see relevant Github repositories here and here.
- The Obyte wallet for the project is being adapted from Benjamin’s Arduino C++ implementation Byteduino.
UX wallet improvements
We hired a contractor to make UX improvements to the Obyte wallet (think improvements in alignment, spacing etc). The Obyte wallet looks great, and soon it should look even better.
Developer?
Chat with the chabot to see why you should enter the Autonomous Agent contest - it’s not only about the $38,000 prize fund.
