I visited a friend of mine in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina during the winter. It was a cold and foggy day so we decided to visit a local mountain resort to get away from the smog in the city.
Zenica is located in the valley of the Bosna River and is surrounded by mountains. It is an industrial city, famous for its ironworks - the Arcelor Mittal Steel Company. The ironworks were the biggest manufacturers of steel in ex-Yugoslavia. Rail tracks that were produced in Zenica are well known in the whole world.
During the summer it is a nice place to visit but during the winter it is a different story. The heavy industry and the pollution leave an everlasting trail and are a big burden for the inhabitants. Since Zenica is an industrial city there is a lot of pollution from the ironworks but also the widely used coal heating furnaces.
The pollution in the air can be 20 times the allowed limit and it leaves a nasty sour taste in the mouth.
To get away from it you need to rise above it. Fly like a bird if you prefer but make sure you get well above the clouds of smog. The winters in Zenica are full of sunshine but the problem is that most people can't see the sun.
I made a few photos of the clouds of smog that show that the winters in Zenica are sunny but where is the sun?!
Wow! Beautiful shots. 🤗💙🧡

I do love the photos of the fog but not so much the smog, I remember visiting that area a few times and the scenery is beautiful there
It is very beautiful, I agree, but many areas are heavily polluted.
Thats sad of course
