What is a Herbie, a Morris and a Vespa?
This post was also meant for #wednesdaywalk by the great @tattoodjay
"Herbie" was a Volkswagen Beetle that starred in a movie in the 60's called "The Love Bug", with co-stars Dean Jones and Michele Lee. The movie was about a car with a mind of its own. Here is an exact replica still on the roads today in South Africa.

I think the owner must have loved the movie Lol
I stand under correction here with "Herbie" as I haven't seen the movie, but I am sure that the owner of this one has.
Next up is the Morris below!
The Morris Minor series of cars was made in the 40's, 50's and 60's. These were made by the Morris Motor Company in England and they were a great improvement on the earlier models that were made in the 20's.
Interesting that Morris stopped production because of the popularity in sales of the Volkswagen Beetles.

I remember this one well, as they also came out with wood paneling at the back.
The famous Morris badge on the hood!
My ex brother in law had two of them. One for him and one for his wife!
And finally an old Vespa Scooter!
In mint condition of course.
The first single model motor scooter was made in 1946 by Piaggio and company in Florence, Tuscany.
Interesting history, as Piaggio was an aeronautics company before world war two, after the war they stopped making planes as their factory was bombed and Piaggio's son developed the Vespa scooter for mass public transport.

This one is an older model, but you can see that it is kept in a great condition.
I was lucky enough to see the lady drive off with her scooter.
And finally, there she goes!
One of my habits whenever we have to go to a shopping center is to walk around in the car parking areas. Of course while my wife is inside to do the shopping. I prefer to wait for her at the entrance and carry the bags to our car.
It is amazing what one can find in this historical little town's parking areas. The photos here were taken by me on one of the recent occasions at a shopping center. Hope that you liked my discoveries!

I’m not sure if they changed the name for South Africa, but that’s a mini traveler. It’s a very early one because the door hinges are external. I raced a mini clubman for 7 years in the UK. I also own an Austin a30 (aka baby Austin) which predates the mini.
Thank you and oh yeah, I saw that they call them mini travellers overseas.
They regularly change car names to suit the South African market.
The Mini Clubman however kept it's name here and it was a great little car.
I remember that one took fourth place in the 70s, amongst the Porches and other big name cars in a 24 hour race at a track here called Kayalami. Simply because there was consistent rain and the big cars had to slow down.
Thank you kindly my friend!
It is a beautiful picture!
Blessings!
Cool vehicles and ohh yes i do agree the owner of the first one clearly loved the movies
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :)
Wow! So late here JJ. Thank you for the kind comment my friend.
Hope you enjoyed your time with the family.
Blessings!
Good old V'dub still see them around, really a great movie in it's time with the car driven by just about every other young person in our age group.
Mini always a hit, my Uncle had one which amazed me how he and his wife found it comfortable being more rotund people.
Vespa was a scooter I would have loved to own, reliable in more ways than one I have heard.
Great walk around the car park seeing lovingly looked after vehicles from yesteryear Stephen.
Glad to hear your history with all of the cars here Lady Joan.
I think most of us had some sort of a relationship with all of them.
Nice to see the oldies still on the roads and I doubt that many of the modern cars will last that long.
Blessings!

Wow...three wonderful and rare classics, all in just one day.
Thanks for sharing! I've felt like I just time-warped back into the 60s, and it's certainly great to see them still being driven around :-)
Hahaha, thank you and I am glad that you liked them.
Certainly does bring back many 60s memories.
Blessings!
Very interesting sir papilloncharity! You never know what you're going to find in the parking lot!
Hahaha, especially in a historical old town my friend.
Still plenty here that I have not seen yet.
I'm sure more interesting discoveries are on their way and we get to share in them!
Mankind has spent centuries discovering new things my friend and they will continue with the discoveries into infinity!
Blessings!
They need to discover how to live by the Word of God!
What a dream my friend!
Anything is possible of course, many scholars think there will be one more world-wide revival before it gets bad again and into the End Times so I hope they are right.
The classics are just amazing!
Thank you and they are indeed amazing my friend.
May you have a great 2020
Blessings!
Blessing to you too my friend!
❤️ 😂
I really liked the Herbie movie! I think I may have been in the army in AIT when I saw it, but I remember it was very funny. I think Buddy Hackett the comedian was in the movie too, as the mechanic I think. You should try to see it sometime!
So many here at home have told me about the movie that I think I will have to watch it my friend.
Thank you for the visit.
Blessings!
