The Plants of Multi-function

Hello all !!!

Have you ever seen this plant? Do you think this is a cannabis plant? Don't be fooled, this is not a marijuana leaf, but it is one of the leaves of herbal medicines that are often adopted by medical drugs as an external medicine on the skin

Since the era of the 2000s this plant has been known as a Betadine plant, and its name is famous throughout Indonesia, especially in the Aceh region, this plant has begun to be cultivated by certain people to be used as medicine by private companies that process it as medicine, both traditional medicine and other medical drugs.

For the people of Indonesia themselves are already familiar with the drug Betadine as a practical medicine for minor injuries or antiseptics to kill germs due to minor injuries caused by sharp objects. But on the other hand, the Betadine plant is efficacious as a natural treatment for minor injuries, either cut by a blunt or sharp object, so that Betadine sap is able to treat it. This Betadine tree has relatives with Jatropha. He has the Latin name Jatropha multifida L, which belongs to the family Euphorbiaceae although the shape of the leaves resembles papaya leaves and cannabis leaves if examined carefully there are differences in shape and color even though the color is green.

Initially I only heard the name, but the shape of the plant was unknown to me. Although this Betadine tree has been growing in our front yard for a long time, and it was planted by our family who said that this tree could treat wounds suffered by sharp objects, so the smell was very similar to this plant even though the extracted Betadine medicine was mixed with other dyes, but the small wound that I experienced healed by rubbing the liquid/sap of the Betadine tree on the wound in my hand with the sap of the Betadine tree, the wound suffered has healed.

Actually this plant is familiar to me because it has been growing in our yard for a long time, but after being informed by my family, I got to know him. This is because this tree was in my home garden planted by my grandmother since I was a child, but when I grew up understood that this plant was able to treat wounds on the skin.

The reason for our lack of attention to this plant is because there is a difference in the mention of its name, this is because this tree has a series of names embedded so that it arises confusion, to better understand I have collected some of the names mentioned for that, in the table below;

OrderThe nameThe region
1BetadineIndonesian national language
2Oen Luka/BetadineAceh (Indonesia)
3BataiTernate (Indonesia)
4Yodium daunMedan (Indonesia)

Actually there are still other names spoken for this plant and also there are still different benefits in this plant. Not only on the skin, because every part is related to any benefit for humans. So what are the other benefits? So in this case will be described in a future post. Thanks.
