Cirsium arvense. A variety of creeping thistle

in #ocd5 years ago

Hi everyone!

Hope life has been going good for you

Sometime after 5:00 pm I visit the banks of the Tamsa River, where Narkul, the clump of Sarpat, wild plum, mulberry and various wild shrubs are found in abundance. Though the area is on the banks of the river, there are no wild animals other than Nilgai, wild boar, fox and royal. The Tamsa River being the only source of water for these wild animals, these animals are sometimes seen. Most of these animals do not appear in the day because people keep working in their fields due to the fact that their fields are nearby. Due to which these animals get scared.

Cirsium arvense-

The photographs shown in this post showed me the most bizarre plant in the region. If it is called a slaughter plant, it will not be an exaggeration. Because thorns are found in both its leaves and stalks, there are also pointed bites like points in the upper part of the leaves.

There are also thorns in the lower part of the flowers.
When I searched the internet about this plant, it was found that there is a species of flower which is found in western Asia, Africa and some parts of Europe. Its name is Cirsium arvense, known in various parts of the country by the names Creeping thistle, field thistle.

Although in most places flowers in this plant come in the month of July or September, but in the eastern region of India, it starts flowering in "January and February*. There are two types of flowers visible in it, one is brown and the other is light pink.

Initially its plants are quite green but as it progresses its color becomes brown. It is a pristine plant that grows throughout the year. Its leaves are cut and hard, with thorns coming out of most parts.

This plant is pollinated from bees, butterflies and bhavra etc. through beetle method. This plant requires sufficient sunlight as well as moisture to reverse.

This plant is also used as a medicine, which is more suitable for digestive function / stomach worm. Since most parts of this plant have thorns, they are first heated and melted to give them the form of medicine, after which they are squeezed and used as decoction.

The most attractive part is its upper part which looks like cotton. As in the picture I have seen it broken. When they blow, they start flying in the air. I saw a similar scene in the movie Avatar in which some similar creatures were floating in the air from their sacred tree.

As far as I understand their seeds are spreading in different areas due to wind. These plants are causing the biggest problem for farmers as they grow in between crops and dry up into sharp pointed thorns.
Some scenes I captured with the device's flashlight when it was dark. There was a fear of wild animals when it was too late, so I was eager to come back soon.
