Israel’s 72nd Independence Day
Hello, dear readers!
Today is a special day for all Israeli men and women, because it’s the 72nd independence year that our country celebrating, despite all the difficulties and obstacles we met at the past and possessing in the present.
The idea of creating an own country for Jewish people wasn’t something new, for a long time Jewish people roamed in all across the world, especially in Europe, where their concentration was the highest, and didn’t have their own country, but one historical event changed the situation and turned on a chain reaction causing the world overthink the Jewish settlement question.
World War II Aftermaths
"German troops on the march"
One of the world’s largest massacres officially started on September 1st, 1939, by German invasion of Poland, and ended on September 2nd, 1945, by Japan signing the capitulation treaty on the USS Missouri battleship.
"Japan signing capitulation on the USS Missouri battleship"
So why I’m referring to the WWII?
The answer is simple- the Holocaust.
After being blamed in the defeat of the German Empire in the First World War, causing Germany to pay huge reparations to the winners of the war, the Nazis started to vaporize Jews, gradually, and the process was called "The Final Solution".
"Arbeit macht frei"
"work sets you free"
"The Final Solution" included full annihilation of Jews in varied ways in ghettos all across Poland causing death of around 6,000,000 Jews.
After the end of the war, it was obvious that the Jewish people need a country of their own, so they can be self-dependent and able to protect themselves and to prevent a similar scenario of the Second World War.
UN Solution
After a long debates, the United Nations proposed resolution that recommended the creation of independent Arab and Jewish states and international regime for the city of Jerusalem(so the both sides will not argue), the resolution was called "Resolution 181".
Resolution 181 was adopted by UN on November 29, 1947, after the voting in which 57 countries participated and that's the results of the voting;

"Jews celebrating the results of the voting"
After the voting, most Jews in Palestine and around the world were satisfied and happy with the results of the voting, which meant that Jews will receive their own independent country, something they dreamed about many, many years.
Israel’s independence was officially declared on May 14, 1948 in Tel-Aviv city, by David Ben-Gurion.
In Conclusion
After all the horrors of the Second World War, Jews finally got an own country that they dreamed about for many years, but which price the Jewish people payed?
Was the death of 6,000,000 Jews that turned on the chain reaction for receiving an own country worth it?
Is this a price they had to pay for their dream?
I don’t have a univocal answer for those questions.
