Having a wonder around Knaresborough, I came accross a short path through some trees and it opened up to this, the shrine of our lady in the crag, it is one of the oldest wayside chapels in Britain, carved way back in 1408 by John the Mason in thanks after his son was almost killed by falling rocks, which narrowly missed him.
Sadly, it was all closed when I was there, but would have loved to have gone inside, although, looking inside, it looked just like a small room.
The gardens were lovely, with herbs growing all around.
I'm not sure if this is open to the public as the main gate was closed, so I had to walk back through the tree area, where there were no signs saying private property etc (at the time at least).
At the top of the hill, around the Knaresborough Castle area, there's a beautiful view of the valley with the river Nidd running through the middle and the gorgeous viaduct lit up at night.
This one was shot at blue hour as I wanted to get the lights on the viaduct. You can get the train from here directly into Harrogate, which is the next town along.
The viaduct was supposed to have opened back in 1848, the first construction however collapsed very near completion so caused delays etc when a new viaduct had to be built.
This was a naughty shot, the area where I was stood was closed off to the public, however, someone had left the gate open, so I thought I'd go and have a look, and I have to admit, I love this view of the viaduct.
And here's one in the daytime, in the middle of summer. I love Knaresborough, it is one of my favourite places and only an hour away.
If you are ever in the area, it's certainly worth a visit, and parking is pretty cheap there too.
Thanks again for checking out my post, I have lots more of this place, but throught I'd just share a few of my favourite shots and memories of visiting there.

Beautiful part of the world! Some of my family live over that way, I need to give them a visit soon!
It's definitely one of my favourite parts of the world, when you go to visit, don't forget your camera.
