My Morning Wellness Tonic Of Excellence
So, I spent the first half of October rather down in the feel good department. My daily saunter had more sway than sassy so to speak. After a particularly horrid bout of food poisoning, I found that my perk was not perking back to full bubble, and the last half of this month has been a bit of a struggle in the energy and motivation department for yours truly. Not Kat-like at all I tell you!
So, in an effort to reclaim my effervescent demeanor, I decided I needed to boost my intake of a plethora of essential nutrients. I surmised that I was probably a bit depleted after the Illness, so I set about crafting a morning tonic of rejuvenation.
The first order of business was placing my long suffering blue enamel kettle on the stove, full of my crisp and refreshing well water. While the water was heating I got out four items from my cupboard of "Mom's weirdness"as the kids refer to that section of my kitchen cabinetry.
Those items were:
Baobob fruit powder
hydrolyzed collagen
Lankanto monfruit/erythritol blend
Trim Healthy Mama Natural Burst: Pineapple
Now why these four things you might be wondering? Well, let's break it down.
Baobob powder:
I had rampaging toddlers when the movie Madagascar and it's subsequent sequels emerged, so I am well versed on the baobob tree image front, I mean, I have seen King Julian swing around in animated baobob boughs at least three thousand times. That said, up until a couple of years ago I had never ingested the wondrous fruit of the majestic and slightly Seussian looking tree.
Baobob is loaded with Vitamin C, fiber, has 8 times the antioxidants of Acai berry, contains a lovely amount of calcium, potassium, iron, and magnesium, oh, and tastes all citrus and sherbet-like. All of these things are good attributes to throw in a wellness tonic.
Hydrolyzed Collagen:
This product has grown in popularity, and for good reason. The enzyme broken down gelatin is sooo good for you for so many reasons, skin, hair, and joint support for one, and gut health for two. Really, the smaller amino acid chains are just so glorious, so they too were thrown in my morning sipper.
Lankanto Monkfruit Sweetener:
A lot of the times I don't like overly sweet things at all, but a Tablespoon of this monkfruit erythritol blend really does something special to this cozy little, invigorating drink. A hint of a sweetener of your choice really is necessary, I bet honey would be sublime or maple syrup!
Trim Healthy Mama Natural Burst-Pineapple:
Now, baobob fruit has a subtle citrus taste, and when I was a kid my grandma used to get this pineapple orange juice concentrate from the Schwans man, which was basically pure high fructose corn syrup flavored with all the synthetic chemicals, but ah, that pineapple orange flavor, dang I miss it. I don't know how the ladies at THM did it, but their non-synthetic "natural flavors" pineapple essence is like getting slapped in the tongue by three hundred pineapple slices. I love, love, love that burst of flavor!
So, ingredients explained, let me now give you my morning tonic recipe:
Start The Day In An Energetic Way Tonic
8 ounces hot water
1 Tablespoon baobob fruit powder
1Tablespoon monkfruit erythritol extract
1 scoop integral hydrolyzed collagen
1 tsp pineapple extractBring water to a boil, cool slightly. If you are impatient you can add a dash of cold water >to your boiling water.
Add the baobob, monkfruit, collagen, and pineapple extract and whisk thoroughly
Sip and enjoy!
That sounds worth trying. Alas, I only have two of the ingredients on hand, one of which is the water. Ha ha!
