OCD DAILY - Issue #869

Welcome to the 869th issue of @OCD Daily!

Issue #869 highlights content from 10 Hive Content Creators! The OCD team continues its search throughout OCD community to find you the undervalued gems, as provided by relatively new users.

Our curators found 10 new pieces of original content on OCD community! We strive to find works that are created by newer Hive users, that may not have the audience and the information about available communities that fits better for their content.

@OCD strives to help Hive users who put in the extra effort to create creative, original content to find audience and the communities where their content would fit better.

The @OCD nomination process

A curator will FIND a piece of work (typically from newer users) in the @ocd community within 24 hours. The curator will leave a comment to the user encouraging them to post in communities where their content would be a better fit.

We encourage you to visit these blogs and show these great Hivers your support and encouragement. And we'd like to remind you once more, don't forget, try and submit your content to the more appropriate communities before OCD unless you feel it doesn't belong in any and is original content that works with our rules.

If you enjoyed their work, give them a follow or maybe even say Hello!

Village Life: The Repair Cafe

We got to learn about the events they host here, there are weekly Yoga classes, a board games club and it's hired by many other people for their birthday celebrations and so on.One of the events that caught our eye was of course, the Repair Cafe and my wife (being on the village hall committee) helps out there. I've not been down to one yet, so decided to pop on my shoes and take a walk down there with my iPhone for a camera.

Since I look after the village hall website, it's a nice easy Wordpress thingy, I thought it would be good to introduce myself to people and grab some photos for the website and this blog at the same time. Cunning little plan, Mr B (for those Blackadder fans out there).

First Weigh-in of 2023 - I'm Still on Track - Operation Under 200 Begins.

The alcohol alone during that two-week period was probably enough to pack on more than a few pounds. Granted, it's mostly water weight. For this reason, I decided to just eat healthy throughout January and do my first weigh-in in February.

Achievement unlocked. My goal after New Year's was to stay in the 240s. I squeaked by on December 2nd at just 249 pounds. LMAO... The goal was 240s. Post here Technically I just hit it.

Considering I didn't have a single "gain month" last year, I didn't want to start 2023 with a gain so I opted to have a month-long recovery before my first weigh-in. I'm really glad I did that. I think a lot of weight loss is about mental attitude and not taking that loss in January kept me focused and on track IMHO.
OK... Drum roll please....

#2 - life’s a peach (most of the time)

Did you know that, biologically, women need more sleep than men? Yes, it is true. Somehow, the same potency that created that biological need also gave them this alertness that keeps them from resting while sleeping and waking up at any sound there is.

For me, it was my kid.

Waking hourly until the age of three while working a full job, it was driving me insane. Literally.

Just the breathing of my fiancé made me mad. The fact that he pointed out “how tired he was” made me over the roof mad. Not because he wasn’t entitled to be tired, because tiredness is felt differently in each one of us, but because he slept the whole night and I felt it was unfair. For that fact, I couldn’t keep myself from lashing out at him and it was inevitably a fight day in day out because I just couldn’t (COULDN’T) get myself in the right mind and wind down. I was constantly stressed out. Worn out.

Propagating Lavender (Testing 2 methods) & Tamarind Bonsai

Hoping everyone had a lovely week and that you will have an even better weekend. It is a beautiful hot day in Rustenburg, South Africa, the perfect kind of day for gardening, or even writing about gardening! It has been another busy week but, as always, I managed to slip away from the endless daily duties and obligations so that I could spend some much-needed time messing about in the garden.

Great DIY Gift Ideas!!

I started a career in residential remodeling almost 20 years ago. One of my favorite things to do at the end of every project is to make pieces of art with the leftover materials. I usually utilize copper wire, nuts, bolts, copper tubing etc. in my creations and will gift them to family members and friends for Christmas. I've been working on a multi-part blog dealing with some intense matters and touchy subjects the past few days. I decided to take a break and post a short blog to stay active on the site and maybe reach a wider audience. Anyway, here's a few pictures of my handy work. Feel free to copy my ideas and make some cool gifts for your loved ones or just have some cool stuff to show off in your own home. ENJOY!!

Light Pollution

I have spent most of my life living in the country. It has never been isolated wilderness, but houses were widely separated from each other on multi-acre tracts with trees adding a layer of natural privacy. People often had one or two exterior light fixtures, usually near a door and/or illuminating part of the driveway with incandescent bulbs. Even these were usually turned off when turning in for the night. One more wealthy neighbor had some ornamental street lights installed along his driveway, but even these exuded a comforting yellow glow of modest candlepower.

Started the Day with the Wrong Foot

I thought that it would be an ordinary day of commuting but I was unfortunately proven wrong. I got out of the flat into the freezing cold; I completely forgot to check the weather forecast and didn’t realise that the temperature was hitting negatives today. Nonetheless, I made my way to my closest tube station which is about 15 minutes walk from where I live. I tapped my Oyster card and passed through the barrier. When I got to the platform, it was too crowded to my surprise. There was no information about any delays nor indications of how long the wait would take.

We hope you were able to take away something different, fresh, and new from these posts. Do not forget to try and submit your content to the more appropriate communities before OCD unless you feel it doesnt belong in any and is original content that works with our rules. You are allowed to cross-posting from other communities to to get visibility from OCDs subscribers as long as the original is posted there. Keep up the great work creating original content!
