Finally, I Got Hired! (Sales Executive)

After several times of job hunting and experiencing age discrimination, I am happy to share that finally I got hired today!

Sharing my experience today was kinda weird. I've got a call yesterday from a company here in Marilao. I sent a copy of my resume through their email and they responded the next morning but I am not available in that moment so I said is it okay if the next day could possibly work and she says it is fine.

(the exam took me more than an hour to finish, so many items to answer tho)

After that call, I watched several interview tips on how to pass an interview in a sales field. I also learned that most of my recent job interviews has a weak spot. By watching those tutorials, I had develop ideas on how to deliver a good answer.

One of my favorite part that I learned was to be TRUE and DO NOT LIE.

Sometimes most people do that to impress. For me this is a good advice for job seeker like me to be truthful in words and in character as well. As an example, I do not hesitate to tell in advance the HR staff that called me that I didn't went into college and I am over 30 years old.

By doing that, I was able to have an assurance that my effort is not in vain. That inspite of my educational attainment, they still chose to invite me for an interview and gave me a chance.

The second thing that I also learned was to LISTEN and build a CONNECTION with the interviewer. So glad that my interviewer (Sales Team Leader) was so nice and very approachable. He makes me feel that interview to be just an ordinary conversation.

I respect him as my superior and I let him know that I was listening in every details and sharing his personal experience as a Sales Consultant. How long he has been in this industry and how he was able to save money makes me so excited.

But he also include that the life of Sales will be stressfull. He was looking for progress and figures. Maybe that kind of aggressiveness and consistency was the reason why he stay in this kind of job for 15 years.

Finally, what I learned is that body postures is important factor to have a good impression to the interviewer. Do not over talk. Allow the interviewer to be comfortable. Remembering that this interview is not about me, it is about the interviewer and I am glad that I think in that matter I succeeded.

Our conversation/interview I think lasted for more than 30 minutes. It's quite long for an interview right? After that interview the HR staff went to me and give me the list of requirements that I needed to provide as soon as I can.

Lastly, for my soon to be Team Leader gave me his business card and officially welcomes me as a part of his team. By God's help I was able to miraculously past it and overcome my fear of being rejected because of my age and my educational background.
