You have registered for our next event, "Come Taste the Future of Money", Tuesday evening at the Indie's. On behalf of OffChain Luxembourg a.s.b.l., we want to thank you!
OffChain Luxembourg is a non-profit with a mission to:
- educate the greatest number about the potential of blockchain and cryptocurrencies,
- support innovation in this field in Luxembourg, the Greater Region, and more generally in Europe.
In our actions, we are emboldened by the EU MiCA regulation, which entered in application at the end of 2024. Thanks to this framework, cryptocurrencies are from now on an integral part of the European legal landscape.
Tuesday we'll showcase the potential of peer-to-peer, blockchain-enabled crypto payments.
You have registered, but you might very well decide that you won't come in the end. Statistics show that only about 50% of those who register to free events actually show up. In order to lean on your decision, we have innovated: if you honor your commitment, you are entitled to a (literal) token reward: 50 of our own, MiCA-compliant "OffChain Luxembourg Token" (OCLT)!
Now if, as we hope, you do come, you may very well just watch, if you so wish.
However, we invite you to be an active participant: have a drink, perhaps something to eat, then request to pay with crypto! You are already forgiven for asking the obvious question: "Why, my ApplePay works perfectly fine?" But you are like us, a pioneer, hungry for knowledge, innovation and progress (or else you wouldn't be here). We gathered here our reflections on the topic and some arguments.
Indie's accepts 2 cryptos, Bitcoin (of course!) on the Lightning Network and HBD (a stablecoin with zero fees).
There are 3 steps to paying with crypto:
- First, you'll need to have a wallet (some of you might already have one). We recommend the following apps:
- "Wallet of Satoshi" for those who want to try paying with Bitcoin
- "Hive Keychain" for those who want to learn about paying with HBD
- Second step only applies for HBD: you need an account (if you don't have one already)
- You need crypto in your wallet - we are here to help.

Those who pay with HBD can, in addition, claim cashback! The cashback implementation is still young and not very user friendly, so talk to us if you like to try!
