I went on the peace of land to get clearing some trees to make room for my home. It has been on my mind a lot that there are chances that the semi truck (tractor trailer) may not be able to bring in the shell where I want it, it's a tight fit. I walked around and thought of a plan B. But that would mean I would have to know exactly where to put it so I don't end up cutting trees for nothing.
Yesterday, I had brought my dad out on the property, being a big machinery operator, once being a truck driver, he would know exactly what is do-able.
Dead end up ahead
The amount of trees to cut down, the land work to flatten the land because of birms will make it such hard work, will take too much time and the cost will be extreme. And the words that came out of his mouth is what I was dreading: "It will be best to build in this case. You will save time in cutting trees and money."
I went from movement, advancing bit by bit, to a full stop and then now I feel like I went 2 steps behind... -1000. Like I have said before, I can do interior work but I have never built anything from scratch. My dad isn't in the greatest of health and our summer is brutal, he wants to help and I don't want him to. I don't want him getting sick. His plan is to start me off, show me how to do things one step at a time. Once i am done one part, then he will come back help me start off on the next part and then... you get the point. Getting the roof on worries me, in town, my dad and I would build the roof pieces on the ground and then he would bring home the boom truck. I would operate it and he would be on the roof to put it in place. We can't get a boom truck in there.
It's time that I do some research while I can't be in action at this point. I need to plan the interior once I get a chance to sit for a long amount of time to draw it out, probably a thousand times.
Talking about time, I have to head to town. So that's the update on what's happening with my journey trying to offgrid. Hopefully next time I can say we cut down trees and got a floor built.
Wow, that's quite a development, I'm sorry it's set you back but great things will come of it and you get to build your own house, that sounds pretty cool. Your dad will be a great teacher and sounds like he knows his stuff too, hope that he takes it easy when he teaches you so it doesn't affect his health - one step at a time 🙂
Sorry for such a late reply. Days are flying by and chaos just kicked in in between. News: I wrote a new blog today. Wont be building this year...
You don't need to apologise, I'll have a read of your blog now 😃
Oh crap! I am sorry!
❤🌹 No need to be sorry my friend. Stuff happens.
🤗☝️
Oh man, always something isn't it? Well, I have faith you'll figure things out. May not be on the timeline you initially expected, but it will happen. Sounds like it is a good opportunity to spend some quality time with dad if nothing else. ;)
I've spent so much time with him lately cause things just got all jumbled up. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner.
Good luck! I hope you can find a solution. I've been watching this show, How To Live Mortgage Free, and it's amazing to see how sometimes there IS a creative solution, but it might be so far out of the box that people don't see it at first. Have you thought about talking to an architect (if you know one)? It's their job to find solutions in these cases. I'd recommend the show in any case--maybe you could find an answer there. :)
I'm sorry I did not get back to you sooner, things have been tough. I know a great architect and have brainstormed quite a bit ^_^
