WHAT IS OMNI?
Please tell me. This is insane. I am calling all crypto vets who know.
That tells me nothing really, and there isn't much neutral info about it available online from what I see. If I am wrong, if any steemer could please point me in the right direction it would be helpful.
I know everyone is hyped about ETH and China right now, but please tell me about OMNI. Whatever you know. Why is it running like this?

Not going to lie, if I saw your message 5 minutes ago I probably would have still did what I did. I sold some Ripple and bought in.... LOL. I didn't touch my ETH or Bitcoin, just some Ripple. Hopefully it won't bite me in the ass. You are absolutely right @hilarski, but some men just want to watch the world burn.
I don't know either, but I do know that I have bought high and sold low on too many crypto.
For me waiting even a week after a dip would have paid off greatly.
So if it drops, don't panic!

I was thinking exactly that right after I bought Omni at 300, then bought again at 140, then sold it at 114. Dumbest panic trade of my life and of course it eventually rose back. I learned my lesson. It's never fun watching the screen, with swings like that, invested in something you know nothing about.
I would have been better off, if I got up from my desk and just took a nap. But, I wanted action, and I got it.... LOL.
bad trades are good lessons imo. i had a similar experience on ETH this week. ive learned to always use a stop loss and stick to it. heres looking up.
Absolutely. @songbird what are your thoughts on the BAT (Basic Attention Toekn) ICO? I tried to get some today but they sold out within 34 seconds. Do you think everyone who got 6400 will be a millionaire in the next coming months or is it going to take longer, or is the business model of the company an impossible task?
Also what are your views on Steemit as a digital currency outside of the Steemit ecosystem?
OMNI is a DEX (pretty crappy one) and Colored Token platform (like Counter Party/XCP). Like XCP, it runs off Bitcoin Blockchain. Known tokens on its platform are Tether, Maid and Synereo. The original name was "Mastercoin" and then it became "OmniLayer" and then the creator left and started "Factom." The community consists of a small team and a few angry early adopters. Communications consist of vague bullet lists that resemble meeting minutes and are conducted weekly. The team seems to be incapable of getting anything done. The wallet is awful and runs server-side.

UPDATE: I'm not seeing any relevant news or software updates that would provide any rational reasoning behind the increase. It's likely a pump and dump and based on experience, would stay away from this one for now. If anything, it should be crashing because the daemon that the wallet runs off is "offline for maintenance"
UPDATE 2: Wallet is working again.
have no idea, I'm afraid to buy because I have a habit of buying the top. It's only been doing this for a day though, but I can't find any info on a good reason. I'm guessing people think it will be the next ETH, intense speculation can be a self-fulfilling prophecy. :D
This is crazy man I sat and watched it run from 100% to 285%, and as I was watching it just by how it was moving, I now feel like it's going to run up 1000% for sure. I know cryptos aren't supposed to be like penny stocks but this reminds me of the pump and dumps you would see get hyped on Investor hub (trollbox) for the day and then everyone would get burned. OMNI IS GOING CRAZY THOUGH. I am trying to find out everything I can. If you find anything please keep me posted here....links, info whatever you got. I will do the same. What caught my eye was the 'all' chart under omni suggested this had happened before on smaller scales, you can def make money on the flip but I don't know that it will hold. If history repeats itself at least there's a distinct spike, it goes lower, holds for a bit and then drops off. Without some kind of news its impossible to say. All this alt-coin madness makes me want to sit in BTC though xD

Its because this is nothing compared to the growth we see
i remember when xbox i mean XBC or bitcoin plus and BTCD Bitcoin dark shot up 3000 percent and 3000 percent in one day, and stayed up there....
its just anotheer altcoin prject, we will se, omni i dunno about, and theres so many REAL projects like Stratis! thats a real business blocckahin!
