my guess this time: it is a superhighres sphere with very sophisticated material-shader, whos maps, specially well chosen multilayer displacement/height maps for geometric deformations, are all driven not by a texture map but either by advanced noisegenerators or by beautifull organic fluids movs or png-sequenes. :))) But however you did it, The result looks great.
