1. Pete Sampras
Pete Sampras is an American retired professional tennis player who is among one of the greats of all time.
He is nicknamed as Pistol Pete because of his precise and powerful serve.
He is a winner of 14 grand slam singles titles with 7 Wimbledon Championships, 5 US Open titles and 2 US Open titles.
He also helped US to win Davis cup 2 times in 1992 and 1995 and also was a winner of year end tour finals 5 times.
He was ATP Player of the Year for 6 consecutive years starting from 1993 till 1998
2. Vikram Sarabhai
Vikram Sarabhai was an Indian scientist who is regarded as Father of India's Space Programme.
He was the founder of Physical Research Laboratory which is known as the cradle of space sciences in India.
He was instrumental in launch of first Indian satellite Aryabhata in 1975.
The Indian Space Research Organization's space centre at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala is named after him as Vikram Sarabhai Space Center.
He was a recipient of India's second highest civilian honour of Padma Vibhushan in 1972 and Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Medal in 1962.
3. Boy Charlton
Boy Charlton was an Australian freestyle swimmer who was a winner of a gold medal in 1500 m freestyle event in 1924 Paris Olympics.
He was a winner of 5 medals across 2 Olympics in 1924 and 1928 with 1 gold, 3 silver and a bronze medal.
He was inducted into International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1972.
Couple of swimming pools in Sydney are named after him in his honour.
4. Erwin Schrödinger
Erwin Schrödinger was an Austrian physicist was the developer of number of results in quantum theory.
He was also the one who formulated wave equation.
Besides being a physicist, he was an author who wrote books on many types of physics including thermodynamics, statistical mechanics, electrodynamics, cosmology etc.
For his contributions to physics, he was honoured with Nobel Prize in Physics in 1933.
He was a Foreign Member of Royal Society of London.
5. Laurent Fignon
Laurent Fignon was a French professional road bicycle racer who was a winner of Tour de France in 1983 and 1984.
He was a winner of many classic races which included a win in Milan - San Remo winning it back to back in 1988 and 1989.
His other wins include a Giro d'Italia in 1989.
After his retirement, he founded Laurent Fignon organisation which organized the races mainly Paris - Nice.
