Pretty nice animation, are the worm creatures instanced onto particles with some seperation settings or did you manage to set up a crowd sim in cinema 4D?

Thanks for the feedback. I just made several single worms attached to path-splines in higher resolution and mask, and then composed it with pos/rot/time-offsets with after effects.
