The Day The Devil Repented
The day the Devil repented it was cold down in hell
for he'd been stoke'n up them flames for oh so long.
He just gathered up his keys and he called Mephistopheles
then he walked right out of hell without a sound.
The day the Devil repented he walked right out the gate
and the boys on the front lines sure had a scare.
But he was standing all alone, like he had nowhere to go
and all the host of heaven could do was stare.
He was so tired
He was twisted up inside
For to fight and win the day
Was all he knew.
He just wanted to relax
Maybe get some peace at last
So he laid down in the rain and morning dew.
Hallelu, Hallelu
A counsel raged in heaven they were starting to fight
for their God had not been seen in quite some time.
Though they all could not agree
They were sure of treachery.
Sighed the Devil "I've heard that all my life"
A counsel sat in silence in the pits down below
for poor Mephistopheles was at a loss.
He had seen it in his eyes
he had felt the fires die.
And he thought he should get up and help his boss.
But he was so tired
He was twisted up inside
For to fight and win the day
Was all he knew.
He just wanted to relax
Maybe get some peace at last
So he kicked back in his chair
and smoked a dube.
Hallelu, Hallelu
A bell rang out in hell, screams and fighting were heard
for the angles of the Lord had stormed the gates.
But demons lost their will to fight
and fires all refused to light
then the first reports came in of massacre.
A bell rang out in heaven a decree from on high.
And the thunder on the mountain leped and roared.
Soldiers all filled the streets and the drums began to beat
Then they all let out a Whoop and marched to war.
They were so right
They were twisted up inside
For to fight and win the day
was all they knew
But when the killing all was done
at the setting of the sun
there'd be a mark upon their sole each one knew.
The sun came up in heaven and they were starting to see
what unto the least among my brothers just might mean
and as they rushed up to the throne
they found a note that he had gone
straight to hell, there was a child who was in need.
A child cried out in hell, that was nothing new
But the infants tears brought walking to a still
and as they looked upon its skin
they could see who'd done this sin
to bring a child into hell you just don't do.
But they were so inspired
they were twisted up inside
for to fight and win the day
was all they knew
And if they could'nt best the Lord
they could surely help this child
and they all looked for something that they could do.
Hallelu, Hallelu
A group came down from heaven
they were knocking at the gate
it seems their God was last seen head'n or this way
and no they didn't have no food
there must be something they could do
So they put down their good books and grabbed a rake.
The sun came up in hell and they were starting to see
what unto the least among my brothers just might mean
and as they looked into her eyes they could see who'd won the prize
unto another you have done it unto me
unto another you have done it unto me
unto another you have done it unto me
On the floor - down and dirty - just like it was meant to be... Rather cool arrangement, brother... However, next time out - do take heed to the rules as outlined by sir @luzcypher... Rules aside, this was pretty cool... Next time, show us "the money, brother!" :-)
Arrrg! Rules! Missed it by "That" much! Ok, that is my only good song - I'm going to try it again for week 61 ; )
