Thanks to @pfunk who has sponsored Steemit Open Mic since it's inception we can award musicians who submit original music.
In addition to the 200 Steem he donates each week, @pfunk also kicks in another 120 Steem to reward people who submit original songs.
The 120 Steem is divided each week between all those who entered original music.
Since Steemit Open Mic is growing so much it is my task to transfer the funds. Here's a screen shot from week 50 of who got a Steem bonus.
NOTE: Some of these "songs" are not really complete songs but works in progress. I decided to pay them out this time but I can see that some people are really just jamming and calling it a song without really writing a song.
Anytime there is a bonus or reward involved there will be those who try to game the game
All this does is dilute the bonus split between those who really took the time to write a good song.
Going forward we will look for real original songs, not just some chords you slapped together and called it a song.
I understand that for some people joining Open Mic Engish is not their first language. It seems some people do not understand what an original song is.
Definition of original song: a piece of music that is not a cover song.
A cover version or cover song, or simply cover, is a new performance or recording of a previously recorded, commercially released song by someone other than the original artist or composer.
You singing or playing a song by someone else in not an original song, it is a cover song, so it will not earn an bonus for original songs.
To those of you really writing original songs for Steemit Open Mic, thank you.
Original Song Bonus For Week 58
There were 28 original song entries which each earned 4.285 Steem.
Congratulations to everyone who earned an original song bonus!
How To Earn A Bonus On Steemit Open Mic
These bonuses may not last forever but to earn a bonus for an original song entry you need to:
- Play or sing an original song. Not just some chords on a guitar that you call original, but an actual song.
- You need to say the words, "Steemit Open Mic Week - (followed by the current week number) at the start of your video.
- The title of your blog post must begin with "Steemit Open Mic Week - (followed by the current week number)
- The word "Original" must be somewhere in your title.
Here's a perfect example of how to correctly title a post to make it easy for us to find your post, know it is an original, and reward you.
