Keeping it short and sweet, here is the flow of considerations for the Steemit Open Mic contest:-

• Need to promote community participation in the spirit of Steemit Open Mic night.

• So.. Steemit Open Mic submissions in comments, community voting and reblogging are encouraged.

• However, we need to avoid public vote abuse and keep a certain standard for Steemit Open Mic night.

• So.. community voting as the first filter, before internal voting.

• Another problem: late submissions are usually disadvantaged as they get less attention on the contest post.

• So.. we've tried to mitigate such a problem by including unique votes of Steemit Open Mic submissions in their own blog posts.

• IT IS CRUCIAL WHEN YOU RECORD YOUR VIDEO THAT YOU SAY "STEEMIT OPEN MIC WEEK 77" AND YOUR USERNAME AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR VIDEO

• We're looking for real live musical performances for this contest. Some people have posted old videos from YouTube and it's difficult to verify that it's really them performing. They will be disqualified from the contest.

• If you want a chance to earn the prize, make a new video and say STEEMIT OPEN MIC Week 77 at the start of it.

• In a well lit quiet room, use your cell phone to record your performance. See recording tips here and here

• SAY THE WORDS "STEEMIT OPEN MIC WEEK 77" AND YOUR USERNAME AT THE BEGINNING OF YOUR VIDEO

• Upload your performance to YouTube or other video hosting site.

• Create a post on your own Steemit account pasting the URL of your uploaded video.

• IMPORTANT: THE FIRST WORDS IN YOUR POST MUST READ: STEEMIT OPEN MIC WEEK 77 before any other text in the title.

Wow! This is the coolest contest I've ever seen here. The size of the prize is staggering. It is not surprising that the crooks already here. You are very generous and do a good job, helping the musicians to rise. I don't write music and don't sing(well, if only during the shower, haha), just stumbled on your post. However, I cannot remain indifferent. Just a thank you from everyone who can participate. You do so much good. Seriously. After all, the fate of unrecognized musicians is sometimes difficult. Many give up their hobby, while others go into depression due to the fact that they can not make it to success. But now they have a chance to gain audience, recognition and monetary reward. Good luck with your endeavors.

Hey everyone! Well, here's my first entry... And since this is an "open mic" I thought I'd try a song I've never done before. I've been playing with this tune for a while, with the band, but we've yet to perform it live. Not sure if this solo-acoustic version will properly deliver my vision for it, but hopefully you'll get the idea. :)
