RE: STEEMIT OPEN MIC WEEK 83: "Flame", An original song about the contradictions of love + Photo shoot

Really, really beautiful. There is a haunting quality to this which reminds me of some Suzanne Vega songs that I love. Although your singing style is different to hers this is the feeling it gave me. Like a walk through winter woods, snow laced trees heavy with the weight of winter's waning. Lovely openmic entry :-)

I like your visual drscription of the song. I love Nature and your description is beautiful. I am a desperate fantasy lover so I do hike in vintage gowns. It inspires me. I grew in the 80s, I confess I did not listen much of her but checked and I remembered a couple of songs. I was more a Tears for Fears and fil music. There is a Tears for Fears tribute a few posts prior. And thanks for the good wishes on my entry. I am already grateful with open mic.

I’ve been a fan of Suzanne Vega’s forever! She’s a huge influence on my guitar playing and I imagine on my songwriting too if I ever get round to that!

Take a look at Small Blue Thing Priscilla. I think you’ll like it.

Will do, she has a beautiful voice (so pretty too), and I remembered a few iconic songs from those years that I had not placed. I think they were better times for music overall. And I accept pprevious comment as lovely compliment. 🎵

I'm a child of the 80's also @yidneth and was raised on LOTR and earthsea. I love fantasy and write fantasy fiction as my first writing love. No probs on the visual description of your song, I'm glad you liked it. Sometimes I can't help myself but wax poetic when I see/hear something that inspires me 🙂 Tears for fears are cool also, I really like that song 'Everybody wants to rule the world' any music from the 80's just brings back memories of childhood for me.

Wow @camuel, talk about synchronicity. 'Small blue thing' was actually the song that came to mind when listening to @yidneth song. 'Small blue thing' always reminded me of winter, which I can't explain why maybe these lyrics -

I am cold against your skin
You are perfectly reflected
I am lost inside your pocket
I am lost against
Your fingers

Always brought back a memory of one of my first girlfriends when I was about 14 years old and walking in the park in winter holding hands in each others pockets cause it was so cold. It's a beautiful song, well worth a listen, or a cover!?

I checked, her voice is very beautiful and all the elements of a classic... I rarely do covers though and they're usually things that were special in my childhood, old cartoons, fantasy nerdy stuff, soundtracks... I have done some eighties too but songs I was already familiar with as the only intention of covers are to do "tributes" still I accept requests on my discord and sometimes just for the fun of it I give a go to other things.
