I missed taking part in week 48 as we had three of my beautiful grandchildren staying for the week. Comparatively normal service has resumed here in Causewayhead!
The piece I am playing this week is a cover of the Davy Graham classic "Angi". Although this instrumental is probably Graham's best known composition, he also popularized DADGAD tuning which has now become very widely used in folk circles. "Angi" has been recorded by many guitarists including Bert Jansch and Paul Simon.
I hope you enjoy it and once again, I bow to @luzcypher for keeping everything right here and also to @pfunk for the continued financial support. Also a thank you to the additional judges for doing what is probably pretty thankless at times. Well done to you all.
Geoff, that was simply amazing! Love the sound and tones you were able to bring to the fore - AWESOME beyond words…. I LOVED this so much!
Thanks mate! You are one of the participants on this thing from whom I am eager to seek approval... don"t ask me why!!! 😉🍷👍
Perhaps it's because you're crazy like a fox - just like me! lol... ps I've tried using the emoji cheat-sheet to add some flavor, but I can't seem to get it to work. Here's what I'm putting in :confounded: and behold, NO EMOJI! I know I'm dumb as a 2x4 sometimes, so if you can explain to me how it works, I'll smack myself in the head and go on about my business. (ha-ha!)
I😂👍 I'm just using my iPad which has all the emojis "built in" so I have no idea how else to do it. Anyway, I like your words my man, so jus' keep on typin'. 😉
Your chops are amazing!!!. you are such an inspiration. Brilliant!!!
Thanks Tam, that means a lot coming from a player of your ability. 👍🎸😊
we missed you too in week 48 , amazing and professional , great performance
So funny... 😆
That was OFF THE HOOK!! SOOOOO awesome I rocked out the whole time :) :) :) Great one!
Thanks Lyndsay. 👍
What bands did you play in? I've been playing guitar for 20 years and watching you play makes me feel like I started this morning. You are an amazing guitar player buddy.
Thank you for your kind comments. Various UK bands but I have actually been hammering out that particular title since 1968! It was the first piece I learned when I started work (at 15!!!) and bought a relatively decent guitar on the "never never" as it was called then. 😉
I love this track and your performance par excellence as always. Amazing guitar work.
Cheers !!!
Nice Handiwork! 😱
Thanks mate 👍
Mighty fine picking.
Cheers Tom, appreciated.
Tasty and slick Steely! Loved it and missed you last week but hey Grandkids take precedence.
👍😉
Wow, such a a beautiful fingerpicking song! Loved it!
Thanks Donatello 👍

Amazing fingerstyle my friend! love it!
Cheers my friend.
Great job and welcome back
Thanks mate. I really found something missing in that week of absence! 😏
Geoff you are the man!! This is quite a groove and I love it, beautifully played.
Thanks mate. Still one of my most played pieces and I always play it first on a new set of strings!
Fantastic playing this week man. Would have loved to see your original 68' take on it. ;)
Ha ha, you probably wouldn't, and neither would I!
Awesome! Definitely one of the better performances of that song I've heard!
I have to say that over the years, I have seen/heard many renditions of this piece. A few seem to have missed the feel of the composition. I suppose mine is a bit of a Paul Simon/Bert Jansch hybrid.
You're very welcome. 👍
Bravo!!
