RE: A Word About Steemit Open Mic Entries

in #openmic7 years ago (edited)

Whoa... it's a big job you guys have at the moment!

I have a idea that might make things easier. If you ask participants to use different tags for the different contests in the following way:

First tag: music
The first tag cannot be edited, so including the week number in that would be a bad idea in case of mistakes.

Other tags would following this pattern:
openmic68 - for open mic week 68
songwriterschallenge5 - for songwriters challenge week 5

If the composition is entirely theirs the participant should include the 'original' tag too, so they can be separated, and any other meaningful subcategories you might want to add.

Any other tags are optional, and can be anything appropriate.

Doing this would mean no rules about the titles would be necessary, which is probably simpler. What do you think?

If it is possible to get people doing this, then I can help organise the entries as my own video project comes together. It's in very early stages, but see here for example. The good things about using this is that I plan to try and solve some of the problems associated with people trying to scam the system.

I expect I would be able to support the new tag system in a few weeks if you think it makes sense, and will plan towards it, if you let me know.

Ultimately, this could probably be migrated to your own site as I'm trying to keep that possible whilst coding.

We are doing that. The second contest ends this week and it has its own tag.

Migrating to its own site is what needs to happen next. A friend started a repository on Github for me.

I think it's time to start a bounty to pull the entries, compile it as a list of the author's links and their respective YouTube videos. That will make the posts easier. But ultimately have a website.
