My Top 5 In Order
As one of the 5 judges, and as an original artist also, I aim to represent the best original artists in this contest from our wonderful Steemit community. I am keeping my ears open for cover artists as well, don't worry but creating an original song is indeed impressive, especially if executed and performed well. Best of skill and performance to you all next week. This week was solid and had a lot of entries, more than the anniversary week it would seem. I could be wrong, but there were many gems I found and there were still many talented performers who entered, so forgive me if I didn't list you, I definitely heard everyone's entries. 1. @orrslaw's "Ms Haulmann" Original Song
I was really happy to come across another original song worthy of 1st place. Truly a saddening yet beautifully encompassing journey of life and death. May Ms Haulmann rest in peace, thank you for sharing this deeply touching and thought provoking piece. You sang it fully with soul and the overall music performance was really well executed with controlled effective emotion. Anytime we, as musicians, can sit down and take the time to dedicate a song of remembrance to a loved one and friend who has passed in our lives truly deserves to have their song heard so that profound moments like these can be experienced and cherished. Thank you for sharing this really deep and impacting song, it had sparked some inner memories as well for lost ones in my life.

2. @lucybanks's "Black And Gold by Sam Sparro" Cover Song
There is absolutely no need for you to say to us to be gentle. This was a great first video that you have submitted to Steemit. You certainly can sing with full passion and feeling. I can't even tell that you have a hangover. You have a very nice quality and texture to your singing voice, smooth vibrato, and I really enjoyed the way you ended your notes in certain sections with a personal rifting flair. I have had the chance to listen to your first single and it was also a really nice track. I hope to hear more entries from you, especially your original songs, but you did this cover justice. 3. @steembirds's "Trending" Original Song
You guys are a force to reckon with. It is hard not to sing along to your easy going songs. They are catchy, you are getting better with your harmonizing and your chemistry is on point. The only thing now is to try not an laugh during the performance, no matter how comedic the song may be. Before and after is always fine but the song loses a bit of traction when a laugh chops up the dictation of the lyrics delivering punchlines and wittiness. I really enjoyed this one, and look forward to more of your originals and the album whenever that starts being recorded. Thanks again for the positive vibes, good energy and ear worm. How happy we all would be to be trending again. Keep up the great songs all us Steemians can relate to.

4. @iamhbros's "Either Way by Chris Stapleton" Cover Song
I could definitely tell that Chris Stapleton is one of your favorite artists. You brought to life this song, especially when you opened up your range and vocal presence on the Chorus section. You play guitar well and you have experience in performing from what I have seen and heard so far. You carried the melody and the energy of this song throughout the entire piece and those are the kind of performances that can captivate an audience when we can see and feel how invested you are into the music, and how much energy and effort you are giving out for people to receive through the sound waves. I don't listen to this genre, but I definitely enjoyed this song and can appreciate and acknowledge great music when I hear it. Thank you for playing this for us

5. @melavie & @chaifm's "Simply Falling" Cover Song
What fun it is to jam out in a duet with your friend, You two have great chemistry and the song came out really well with the complimentary harmonies and back and forth ebb and flow of your nice voices. I do too get a bit discouraged when a guitar or any stringed instrument for that matter just doesn't seem to stay tuned how I wish it would be. Either way it did not hurt the performance one bit, besides a minor note sliding towards the end, you both held your own and provided a wonderful sound that we all could enjoy, thank you for sharing your friendship through music. Looking forward to more of your entries.

The way it works is:
Each week's contest begins on Sunday and ends on Friday so week 54 just started yesterday and will continue until this Friday.
The winners are announced on Monday following the end of the contest on Friday so week 53 winners are announced today and week 54 will be announced next Monday.
