I don't often attribute Biden with making good decisions but recently it was announced that he will not be doing a speech to put on the jumbotron at the Super Bowl this year. This event in the recent past has always been a piece of tradition for the big game but it is very understandable why Biden would sit it out. Politics in USA are extremely toxic right now and you could be assured that chants of at least "let's go Brandon!" would happen in the stands when it came on.
This is not a Trump vs. Biden rant btw. I support neither of them. Trump refused to do the interview one time as well during the "taking a knee" year in the NFL.
Apparently, Joe sat out last year's interview as well but this might have had something to do with the fact that Fox had the broadcasting rights for the Super Bowl.

His office is claiming that they opted out of the interview to give the American people a break from politics and if that really is the reason than I commend them for this. However, I suspect the real reason is because of the fact that Joe already has dismal support numbers and a live interview filled with Biden mumbo-jumbo gaffes certainly wouldn't help this situation out for him. The fact that half of the fans are coming from Kansas and Missouri, both heavily red states, would also insure a very poor reception for the man.
I did notice that Trump says that he wants to take Joe's place in the interview but I don't think there is any chance of that actually happening. I don't want either of these jackaloons commenting on the biggest sporting event of the year in USA. Trump would also need to be worried about the fact that the other half of the crowd is coming from ultra-liberal San Francisco so a similar level of booing could be expected if he was on the screen. I think it would be wonderful if he was to attend the game though, just to see what sort of mayhem could happen if he did.
I don't like sports and politics getting mixed together but it is just like of a wake up to me about how when this happened in the past with basically all Presidents that I can remember from Reagan to Obama having at least something to do with the Super Bowl, that people were cool with it and there wasn't much bitching about the fact that it was happening. It is just a sign of how absolutely awful politics has become in the USA where simply saying a few words as President at a game results in a horrible reaction from the crowd.
Or maybe it is a good thing because it shows that most people are completely fed up with politicians. That's my hope anyway.
Regardless of what the real motivation behind Biden's - or more likely his staffers - decision to not do this, I am glad that it isn't going to happen. Let's just enjoy some football for a day... we can go back to the circular stupid arguments about politics the following day.
I am sure Brandon's speech, if he gave one, would be akin to
"You know, you know, when you get the football, into the end zone, you get a touchdown, and that is the way you win"
maybe he would repeat the lie about nearly being an All American in college :) That would be brilliant.
But you know Corn Pop was a bad dude, and he was always looking to sack me…
haha, great stuff.
I think it is more out of worry of it being live and he could really cock things up showing he is in no state to be in office.
For sure and because I believe at least, it is meant to be live, there would be no way for the networks to cover it up. They've done a magnificent job of hiding anything Biden has said publicly (which isn't much or often) up to this point and now they are also talking about how he isn't going to debate "whoever the GOP nominee is"..... I wonder who that could be?
