Morality and the law

in #opinion8 years ago (edited)

I observed that society tends to believe that the law's only purpose is to protect us through morality, but contrary to popular belief, that isn't always the case since there's "victimless crimes" which means that there's no victim nor any property (minus intellectual) stolen.

So in regards to victimless crimes, I'll give you some examples of victimless crimes which exist in most countries including mine and I'll explain why I think classing them as crimes is unnecessary in my eyes. Some victimless crimes are; not applying for a license to drive a car, possessing an illegal firearm, buying/selling certain drugs etc.

When I was a kid as well, I used to think that the law was only made to protect us from screwed up people within this world but as I started questioning a lot of things during a spiritual awakening I had one and a half years ago.. I found that this weren't the case.

Tell me what you think of this opinion as well.
