I have always waited for doors to open up for me to step into. To this point in my life it has worked time and time again.
My tendency in life is to volunteer wherever i see a need that my skills can be of help or if the need is in an area that I want to learn and develop skills. This has made the projects I have participated in enjoyable, and they have had the tendency to actually turn into employment.
My volunteer projects and salaried jobs envelop my attention as I am involved in them. My focus is on learning everything I can and to carry out the task with all effort possible, whether I receive financial compensation or not. If the opportunity begins to become just routine, or I am not learning, or I begin to loose motivation and cannot seem to restimulate my excitment, I will put in my notice. In a couple instances, I have been let go because of finance cutbacks, but always with nice severance packages.
If this happens, I return to my volunteer routine until some other door opens. Like I have already said, to date they always have. By the time my severance runs out, another oppotunity has presented itself.
What do I feel the key is to this happening in my life? The key factor is this, I always ask God to lead me step by step, to take care of my needs, to enable me to take advantage of opportunities that presents itself, and to provide for my needs since he is indeed my source. I am now 54 years old, and I am a testimony that it works!
