Why did Oprah Winfrey decline to accept Donald Trump's offer to be Vice President?

in #oprah8 years ago (edited)

Recently it has been covered in the news that Oprah wants to consider running for President of the United States of America. The catalyst offered as the explanation for Oprah Winfrey's newly divulged consideration would be the fact that Donald Trump was elected from outside of the political establishment and traditionally respected government experience.

This article will be attempt to understand why Oprah turned down Trump's offer to be his Vice President... but Trump's election now makes her want to be President immediately after he is. If Oprah Winfrey took Donald Trump's offer in the 1990's then her second term as POTUS would be over and in the books by now. Trump would have won instead of Bush. Winfrey would have won instead of Obama. Trump Winfrey could have escaped the Supreme Court with the victory in the 2000 election.

Why did Oprah let the clear opportunity pass her by? And then suddenly start claiming she wants that opportunity back again?

Here are some possible reasons. I will edit this list as I learn more information from comments. There must be a way to figure out the correct reason why this is happening.

REASON 1
OPRAH DID NOT WANT TO RISK HARMING GEORGE BUSH'S 2000 ELECTION

Ross Perot was carving up the Republican Party. Clintons' 1992 and 1996 victories were possible because Perot was taking votes away from the Republican Party. If Ross Perot dropped out and stayed out, then Clinton would have never been elected.

If Oprah accepted Trump's offer to be his VP on the Reform Party ticket, then she could have switched her party back to Democrat after winning. It has been done before. Oprah may have wanted to not harm the Republican Party's opportunity to defeat Al Gore in 2000.

REASON 2
OPRAH DID NOT WANT TRUMP TO WIN THE 2000 ELECTION AND SHE KNEW HE COULD NEVER WIN WITHOUT HER

Oprah knew that her power added to the ticket was power Trump needed. Oprah believed she had the power to prevent him from ever being elected and the power was executed by her act of refusing his offer to be the VP.

REASON 3
OPRAH BELIEVED TRUMP HAD NO CHANCE TO WIN THE 2000 ELECTION AND HE COULD NEVER WIN WITH HER

Oprah knew that her power added to the Trump ticket was was a futile waste. Oprah believed she did not have the power to help him get elected.

This is a work in progress. It may be edited

In summary, Oprah Winfrey being President after Trump's term is not Oprah's idea. It is Trump's idea. It is what Trump wanted to happen in the first place.

There are so many comical possibilities as Oprah tries to defend why she didn't take Trump's offer.

What if Oprah says she doesn't like thinking how President Trump would have handled the World Trade Center attacks? Trump could fire back, "Don't let Rosie O'Donnel hear you saying 911 was not an inside job!"

REASON 4
HILLARY CLINTON SCARES THE SHIT OUT OF OPRAH

To imagine the work behind the scenes required for Hillary to take over Oprah Winfrey's show and use it as a platform to lie to the American people about the Monica Lewenski scandal...

To imagine how Oprah must have been threatened or intimidated when the Clintons came in to try and get away with that bullshit, it makes me think Oprah was scared of the Clintons and was not willing to explain as a candidate why she allowed that to happen to her.
