We live in Minnesota, the state voted to have the most miserable winters in the United States. Our town of Duluth is a tourist town, and we have a surprisingly large homeless population. A population my children and I are a part of.
Today while walking downtown we came across a group of Anons doing some humanitarian, non-hacker work. They have gathered warm clothes, coats, gloves and scarves to distribute right in an area highly trafficked by a number of our homeless community.
A completely selfless act carried out by a group of "useless millenials".
Hi @hickorymack it's really neat to meet you and hangout here. Cudos on your honest brave post. Life can't be easy on the streets with kids. Life sure has it's struggles and blessings. I have been on 'income support' which is fancy terms for welfare. And, now that i am partially back to work, less than half of what i used to do i am not eligable to recieve it anymore. I am blessed that family will help if i need it. Until i am back on my feet. Thank-god for my sister and her family for taking my son i in. After a car crash this past summer left me wrecked and my marriage fell apart shortly after. I would have been homeless too. Wishing you and your children pleanty of warmth, good food, kind hearts, blessings, love and joy. The best is yet to come 💜💛💚💙❤
Good job, I know life on the street. Not for a long time, I was lucky.
It's definitely not an easy part of life, that's for sure. The stigmatization and judgement is disenheartening.
I am disabled trying to get on disability and am just barely managing to keep from being homeless!! God bless you for what you're going thru!! Oh how I know the stigma! They constantly complain on local message boards about the homeless!! People are so heartless and yet I find the ones with the least often are the ones who give the most!! I will be following you! I've been looking for some good peeps to ad to my following!!!Hang in there!!
Thank you. I will definitely be posting when I can get to the library, and I will follow you as well! I'll keep you in my thoughts, stay strong, you can make it through!
You too! Stay warm and healthy!! I just got over flu n now have a sinus n ear infection and getting sick while being homeless is a big no-no for you.
Now, thats good work! Thanks for sharing this faith restoring stuff <3 Hope to hear more cool things.
Beautiful, bless them and you! xoxo
What a beautiful job, I hope we all have the possibility to perform these tasks. I follow you
Love it! This could also go under the tag #ophumanangels . Stay safe out there! 💛
Stay warm - stay safe :)
I truly believe that people want to help they just don't know how. We all need to learn how to help each other every day.
God bless you!
I can't even imagine what you must be going through; it was bad enough being on my own and homeless in the relatively benign climate of Texas.
Welcome to Steemit, however... this place can (and has) changed lives; it may not be much, but it can be enough to make a difference.
