71% Probability: That’s what prediction markets are now assigning to Donald Trump launching a U.S. Bitcoin Strategic Reserve by 2026, as per Kalshi. And with his White House Crypto Summit on the horizon, the probability of a major policy shift is only increasing.
El Salvador Won’t Back Down, At Least for Now: Despite warnings from the IMF, Nayib Bukele is doubling down on his Bitcoin reserves. The IMF’s recent $3.5B deal came with a clear demand: stop Bitcoin purchases. Bukele’s response? A hard “No.” El Salvador is still buying, every single day.
- El Salvador’s Bitcoin balance is up nearly $545 million.
- The country has already profited over $138 million from BTC holdings.
- Bitcoin has boosted tourism, investment, and global visibility.
Of course, nobody can predict what El Salvador will do at the end of March when the IMF agreement comes fully into effect, but for now, they are still accumulating, a strong signal of conviction.
While the U.S. and El Salvador are making moves, Europe remains hesitant. But hesitation is not a strategy. The benefits of a Bitcoin Strategic Reserve remain unchanged:
- A hedge against inflation and monetary instability
- A reserve asset that cannot be frozen, manipulated, or inflated away
- A tool for long-term financial sovereignty
