Do you want to go to a beach without a lot of tourists and people around you?
This is the hike for you is at Cape LookOut. Visit http://oregonstateparks.org for details on location/rules.
There are secluded beaches and it is beautiful. As you see in the photo I took at sunset, this was a view to see. However, if you do this after dark, bring flashlights, food, water and stay on the trail. It is easy to get lost going off a trail at night.
The picture below was only a 1 1/2 mile walk and nobody was around even during the busiest holiday weekends. When you do see other hikers, they are usually very polite, helpful and respectful of the land. There are about 4 trails and look out points that are picturesque and breathtaking. Make all your friends jelly on social media.
We brought our surf boards down and even surfed a little. However, if you are not familiar with the Pacific Ocean on the Oregon Coast, it is very cold and a wet suit is strongly suggested.
If you want to rent gear, no problem. It is about a 20 minute drive from Pacific City’s ‘Momento’ surf shop. There you can rent wet suits, Boogie Boards and Surf Boards. If you want to take it a step further, get lessons with Gary, he is awesome. That is an entire other area that is also worth a look but way more crowded. The sand dunes there are a must!
