Laburnum anagyroides
Aka. Golden chain, golden rain, false ebony
Native to Central and southern Europe.
The seeds are legumes that are somewhat toxic to humans, goats, cattle, and horses, especially the unripe ones. Hares and deer can eat them.
The trees are used as ornemental plants, pests, woodburning, bows, instruments, fuel. Older trees can be used to replace ebony.
JRR Tolkien modeled the tree Laurelin after in. In some regions its believed to have magical properties.
