Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli on Sunday attended an Orphan's Day celebration on behalf of President Abdel Fattah el Sisi.
Delivering a speech, Sports and Youth Minister Ashraf Sobhy thanked Sisi for his sponsorship of the celebration, asserting the state, with its all institutions, is keen to offer more support and care for the orphans.
Sobhy affirmed the importance of efforts exerted by the government, civil institutions, and private sector to meet the orphans' needs and protect them, describing them as a main partner in building society.
Sobhy said the Sports and Youth Ministry applies a raft of programs and activities for children, including a new project called "Ha Ana Ohaqeq Zati" (Here I am fulfilling myself) under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah el Sisi.
The project, which includes sports, social, and cultural activities, is being implemented in all governorates throughout this year, the minister noted.
The idea to have an Orphans’ Day began with an initiative from an Egyptian NGO in 2003; the Council of Arab Social Affairs Ministers of the Arab league in 2006 recognized it as a day for orphanages in the Arab World.
