Westport and Aberdeen, WA

When you talk about Pacific Coast, the scenic highway 101, and Oregon coastline will come to mind. But how about Washington? Are we really not part of the legendary coastline that attracts millions of tourists every year? Well... not so much. But the other day, we decided to check out the pacific coast in Washington State anyhow! And that is Westport! Also, Aberdeen is on the way, where Kurt Cobain from Nirvana was born and grew up, so let's go!

After 3 hours drive and once we parked, we were surrounded by waterfront sidewalks, fishing boats and facilities, cute restaurants and ice-cream shops. It's a Tuesday but we still saw big groups and families; could imagine this place must be packed on weekends and holidays!

With huge crave for some fresh seafood, we walked into Bennett's Fish Shack. It's 1:30pm and there was still a line of 10 people... on top of that, two of the things we wanted to order were sold out?! Sold out at 1:30 in a restaurant that's open till 9pm. I was not sure how many thousand of times the server would tell the customers that "sorry, our clam strip is sold out today".

After a solid 45 minutes, we finally ate. It was worth it. Trust me! Halibut and chips, crab melt sandwich, shrimp cocktail and a raspberry lemonade.

Close-up pic of the crab melt sandwich! There's tons of crab meat, juicy and sweet.

We left the town and were headed to the pacific ocean. After walking along a sandy ground with grass higher than your waist, you suddenly saw a massive body of water in front of you. It is so endless, and magnificent.

We brought a kite! It was awesome to see it flying by the ocean but we realized we need to sharpen our skills on how to fly a kite better. So.... if you know a trick or two about kites, help a struggling couple out. :)

On the way back, we stopped by Aberdeen. Moca frap was so good, and I managed to snip a picture of the blue skye in this modern yet quiet coffee shop in downtown.

I never knew Kurt Cobain was born and raised in Aberdeen, until Mr. Travel told me. Walking around the park underneath the bridge, we were chatting about Nirvana, our favorite songs, and tried to imagine how he spent his time in this area playing guitar and thinking about music.

Also, there were some signs being put outside the house right by the park, which are quite amusing.

Here's the map of our driving route. Definitely a fun destination for day trip. I'll go back there again in a heart beat. :)
