Paint is simply a solution of dissolve solid particles in a suitable solvent (usually water or oil) by the addition of a pigment to the solution to give a desired colour used for beautifying and providing texture as well as protection to the surfaces of materials, buildings, automobiles etc.
It is also defined by Wikipedia as any liquid, liquefiable, or mastic composition that, after application to a substrate in a thin layer, converts to a solid film. It is most commonly used to protect, color, or provide texture to objects.
Some of the advantages of painting are:
- It beautify the surfaces of an object and makes it more attractive
- It prevent rust and corrosion especially in matal objects
- The painted object is more easier to maintain than the unpainted one
- It enhance the productivity of an equipment
- It saves money: paint an object increases its lifespan especially metals as it would not corrode or rust easily
- It increase the resale value of an object, painting a used object that you want to sell will increase it actual price value
