Lü Ji was a Chinese painter working during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). During the reign of Emperor Chenghua, Lü Ji joined the Imperial Palace, where he received a salary of a guardian . He created his works in the Hall of Goodwill and Wisdom and was promoted to the rank of commander of the Imperial Guards. Like many major Chinese artists, Lü Ji was busy copying the paintings of ancient masters of the Tang and Song era. Gradually, he developed his own style, which had a wide influence on the entire painting of the genre " flowers-birds " both among court painters and outside the court. This style is considered the " Minsk academic style of painting flowers and birds ."
